Okay for a reason or just to kill them? I would guess your shooting them ti keep them from tearing up your yard are getting into your shit? I guess i would say thats justifiable in my book if thats the case...similiar to prairie dog hunts..shooting to control population and stop the holes tearing up a field. Do you think its ok to go see a deer and just shoot it and let it lay. To me there gas to be some reason..nof just kill it. A bear leaving my property a mile or more away would not get a shot or run down from me. I would absolutly be watching for its return and ready ti shoot if needed
If you see a skunk walking in the ditch, do you just blow it a kiss and drive on by. It's doing nothing wrong. It's 2 miles from anyone or anything.

Why do guys that dance by themselves in front of screens playing music videos hate the bears?

Is what he did, wrong? Yes it is. Enough to make a person sick, I think not. If it makes you sick to your stomach don't watch it 4 times. And go to your safe place

Im waiting to hear the who and why from locals as it likely happened within 10 miles of my childhood home. That said people have scoffed at me for years when I told them the bears are coming and we will have breeding populations in certain areas within 10 years. I suspect(strongly suspect based on trusted sources and game cameras) we do already. I won’t speak to incident until I gather more info….. but a couple things that need to happen now if the game and fish doesnt want to be stuck in reaction mode like every other thing they seem to fuck up and get behind the 8 ball on. 1) recognize we have bears. Not just transient bears but likely a population in the gorge, turtle mountains and red river corridors that will continue to expand. 2) move them by legal definition to a “big game” animal in the proclamation or by ND law. I believe other states treat them as a big game animal which they should be. 3) they need to start thinking of or at least get ahead on potentially planning for a limited season( no gratis as bears cover a massive area to roam) and imo are semi migratory. Im not a bear expert but I’m starting to think we may get a lot of Minnesotas summer bears as their population grows and they return to den in mn. At least for now until they start denning here. I have some solid reasoning as to this being a strong possibility. If this is the case then we don’t have “transient” bears but are actually part of a summer range at this time.

They are listed as a furbearer in ND

20.1-01-02. Definitions. In this title, unless the context otherwise requires:
  1. 18. "Furbearers" includes mink, muskrats, weasels, wolverines, otters, martens, fishers, kit or swift foxes, beavers, raccoons, badgers, wolves, coyotes, bobcats, lynx, mountain lions, black bears, and red or gray foxes.

20.1-07-03. Fur-bearing animals which are protected not to be taken or disturbed during closed seasons. No person may hunt, shoot, trap, or take, in this state, any furbearer, except during the open or lawful season thereon as established under section 20.1-07-04 or 20.1-08-02.

20.1-07-06. Unlawful possession of furbearers -

Each violation is a distinct offense. No person may unlawfully:

  1. Kill, take, attempt to take, possess, transport, accept for transportation, buy, sell, offer for sale, barter, or otherwise dispose of any fur-bearing animal or any part thereof.
  2. Take or attempt to take any furbearer outside a regularly prescribed season or without a license or as provided in section 20.1-07-04, or violate any of this chapter.

Also again not a bear expert but from my understanding as explained to me by someone who is an expert on bears …..east of us bears are pretty much fat deer….. they are almost exclusively herbivores and rely on berries, acorns and agricultural crops. Personally I’d be more scared of a moose than a bear in the woods unless it was a sow with cubs and you were in the middle. Out west is where the black bears will eat elk and deer fawns from what I’ve been told by another beer expert on that side of us. So the felt “threatened” thing to me sounds a bit far fetched.

Yes I understand they are close. They are listed as “fur bearer” Im saying they need to be moved to “big game”
Wasn't directed at you. Just adding to the previous quote from the regs as it wasn't clear to me if black bears were protected furbearers and had to look it up.
