I can't believe any amount of gas savings would come close to the wear and tear on the starter. Hate that shit. Always shut it down.

Figured it was the starter as my prior post stated. The connection to the positive they used a china knockoff for the connector end...I replaced my with a tweco T-62 end that can actually handle 500Amps...the factory ones are only about 250Amps and when they get wet corrode because they are already half burned.Replaced the starter.(27k miles) They didn't find anything else that was setting off the horn or other security issues. Picked it up yesterday and used today, so far so good and no unwanted alarms at this point. Gonna be a bit before I get my confidence with it again. Electrical crap sucks.
With all the electrical, Extended warranty purchased when bought vehicle.Given the age of the vehicle, I assume no warranty was in effect. What was the total damage to the wallet?
