I have been regularly shooting trap this summer, and cant seem to put a better than 21 on the board... so frustrating.

I could never overcome the mental game of ignoring the trees and shit between me and the bird.

Ruffs are similar to sharptails in that they're reasonably frail and not at all difficult to put on the ground. CYL choke and AA or STS target loads in 8 or 7.5's is all I've ever used to Ruffs from 12ga down to 28. 28Ga Franchi AL 48 is THE shotgun for me and ruffs. I've tried lots of others but continue to go back to the Franchi.

Lol,juanr....trap shooting,it's fun and frustrating at the same time,looks way easy but it's also a mental game iffin one wants to get serious.

Shooting a 25 bird round it's easy for one to lose focus or call for a target then bead check at the last minute/second will result in a loss target.. Also if your shooting a semi auto or pump,your shotgun barrel will expand as it heats up as you shoot,causing a poor pattern in afield grade shotgun.

Some shooter's jump all in and shoot the heavy duty trap/sporting clays ammo from the 16yd line ,such as 3dr 1/1/8oz loads #8's or? 1300fps,doing so is the perfect storm to develope a flnch and lost targets as you wind down your last couple stands.,best practice loads iffin you can find them for 16yd trap is 2 3/4 dr 8's 1140fps,and of course check your ammo on the pattern board.

Congrats on finding 12ga target ammo,after 20+ years shooting registerd trap and now sporting clays,gotta call her quits,my SS checks doesn't cover gas for my truck let alone $10-$15/box for ammo,started gardening.

Neighbor up north changed over from a 20ga. to a 410 about 3 years ago. Not sure what gun or load he uses. I scored him a couple of boxes of 2 1/2 in 7 1/2s. He seemed pretty happy with those.

Up in Saskatchewan they like to shoot them skillet style “on the ground” this is oct 22 22 the numbers were way up the was groups of 5-6 getting up in front of us. We split up into groups and drove different road in the bush. Our group shot 20 letting the kids shoot total number was 62. Great day and I here the numbers are higher this year.

years ago i used to hunt allot of ruffys and after a month of point and shoot i went pheasant hunting and couldn't swing on a bird at all.

It’s doesn’t count as a “25” when you shoot 5 rounds of 25 and only get 5/round.

When did Saskatchewan start letting nonresidents shoot upland game?

I started hunting SK 25 years ago or more and some upland game was allowed. As I recall you get tags for so many with your license. As I recall though pheasants were not allowed.
