Lost? How can 90 MILLION dollars just be lost? Must be a paper trail to investigate where this money went and to whom and the relationships between the NDDF board and the recipients. It would be nice if the lost money was found and paid back to the taxpayers, but I would bet that the whole thing will be swept under the rug and the grifting will continue especially now that the state is receiving an additional roughly 3 MILLION dollars per day due to high oil prices. Now the legislature can get double drunk on all of this money and hand out more to their buddies!

I agree with this. I believe our government's original objective was very simple: keep us safe internally and externally, provide a level playing field for all and then stay the hell out of the way. But then we had to start with "but what about this group, they could use a little help" and now we have 1000s of "little groups" that the government is attempting to help, but, in many cases, don't. And then up hindering or penalizing others in the process.

I would say we are now at the point where the "winners" are picking our govt.

A couple ways to look at that. First, I would rather have winners in charge rather than losers. But, I don't like the fact that the candidate with the most campaign money often times wins. In 2010 the SC ruling opened the door to unlimited contributions by corporations, that was not a good thing for the country.

Governor Kelly Armstrong has declared a state of emergency due to the cost and availability of diesel fuel.

Armstrong is now expanding the permitted uses of red-dyed diesel fuel to allow for on-highway use. This fuel is normally only allowed for certain off-highway agricultural, industrial and railroad purposes.

Armstrong issued an executive order today allowing licensed motor vehicles to use red-dyed fuel for ag operations.

In North Dakota, people are charged an excise tax of 23 cents per gallon on regular diesel fuel but only four cents per gallon for red-dyed diesel.

“Record high diesel prices are squeezing our ag producers, and this is a meaningful and timely step we can take to provide temporary relief and help our farmers and ranchers through the harvest season,” Armstrong said.

The order will remain in effect through November 30. It does not affect the federal government’s 24.4-cent-per-gallon excise tax on diesel fuel.
