I'm sure I'm not alone here...but I got a DUI just over 7 years ago in ND. Does anyone know for sure how I can get into Canada legally?! I heard many things like after 10 years you can, or if you pay a large fee you can...Just wondering if someone has first hand experience? Thanks all! ;:;banghead

Piss on Oh Canada, all they want is our $$$,hell we can't keep illegals crossing our southern borders (thanx to obummer) and the canooks bends us over to hunt and fish up there and make us jump thru hoops to travel there, the folks that live there are great its just the ministry that sucks.Plenty of quality fish to be had in north Dakota, just sayin.

Pretty sure there is a way to file paperwork allowing you if approved. I'm not sure about the whole process.

Another question: Does a guy NEED a passport? My sister says she goes up there with just her DL and birth certificate.

I believe you can get into Canada and possibly Mexico with just the passport card, not the whole book.

You can get into Canada with just a DL and birth certificate, but you're supposed to have your boarder card or passport to get back to US. They're not going to deny you getting back in, but more than likely you'll be pulling in the garage for a lengthy inspection and ass chewing.

I have done a TON of research. If you are truly interested then PM me. I have a DUI on my record and I can save you sometime. Don't listen to the people here that don't know for certain.

So someone gets a DUI, (a felony in canada) and its Canada's fault for having teeth in their laws?

Classic.

All you need is your drivers license and birth certificate. Wife was just up to Winnepeg to watch the daughter play basketball (daughter only had the DL and BC as well) a couple weeks ago, went through the International Peace Garden and had absolutely no issues going either way. I know nothing about crossing with a DUI!

Canada gave them more crap because the car still had the dealers advertising plate on it.

Getting in to canada was easier than tying my shoes. The guy interrogating us on the way back into the US was a bit more robocop-ish.

I have never had much of an issue at the border but I dont have a dui. Last winter on the way back I did get hassled a bit coming back in to the states. I was asked if I am bringing anything back and I said "just my limit of walleye" they were dead, packed in a 5 gal bucket of snow. He gave me some shit about transporting live fish across the border. I argued that they were not alive. he grumbled about it but let me go. It is totally dependent on what mood they are in. pretty sure this guy was on his period.

Last year on the way in to Canada we had to get searched. We had to go inside. I walk into the building and there is a long desk with 4 or 5 "guards". My brother and I are the only people in this place besides them. So I walk up to the counter and the bitch behind the counter literally yells at me, " the sign says wait behind the yellow line!" So of course I walk back to the yellow line and she immediately says ok come here.
The bitchiness didn't stop there. I think its a prerequisite to be a grouch to work at the border. Just like they are absolutely pissed that you want to come into their country and spend money.

Only time I've had trouble coming back is when we used to go up to drink before we were 21. I once puked out the window while we were talking to the border patrol at 2 am. haha

we used to cross at Maida and that crossing closes at 10pm. it was always a race from Morden to the border to try to make it just in time. Cant believe we never got caught. or killed.

Never had an issue getting into MX or Canada ---- the are pleasant to deal with. Getting back into this country every time some comment has to be made on the part of the customs officer or some sort or another. Its amazing how our freedoms have eroded in this country.

now with regards to getting to Canada: NW angle? Take a sled
