Anybody went to Canada recently with a DWI? Planning a trip up and a friend had a DWI back in 2017, wondering if he will get thru or what he needs to do to not have any issues at the border.
They go back to 10 years so unless he lies or has a waiver from the Queen he is not getting through.
This from experience.

One step closer to the end.
Is there a way to get the state DMV to expunge the ticket? I thought I heard of a guy getting that to work as I know after a DUI he was on several fishing trips to Canada.

They seem to be going back even farther. Last summer I hit the border with a friend that had one 12-13 years ago. NOPE. We had to turn around.
In the 90's I was turned around and it was over 10 years also. But I could have got in had I paid them. It was around $500 or so then. And you'd have to pay that every time unless you applied for a lifetime pass that was even more. So like I said earlier, if you want in, just bring a bunch of cash.

I had a conversation with a Canadian Border Patrol last month at the Pembina Crossing and he stated that if the DUI was pre 2018, you "should" have no problem crossing. I asked him several questions after that and he referred back to that answer, always. He stated that anything post 2018, you will have to go through the steps with Canada. And he was the senior guard in charge that day.

Headed there Wednesday morning, no DUI on my record so not worried. The fella that was going to go with me from Dickinson had one 14 years ago, but decided to cancel the trip with me, he didn't want to get to the boarder and end up heading back because of it.

My other buddies have been fishing hard up there for a few days now, and hammering them. Cant wait.

3 years ago they caught a guy in our group who didn't disclose his DUI and still let him in...

We went in mid-FEB this year and had no issues at all. Smoothest border crossing yet.

Good luck, have fun, and have a safe trip.

One year probably 12 years ago, just like that I was walking over to a buddies flip over and the shit cramps set in. I kindly asked him to step outside so I could shit in his house, as it was about 10* that day, and a large crowd around us. He refused, so I proceeded to take my jacket off and undo my bibs, told him he can stay in and watch me or get the F out. He got out, and didn't talk to me the rest of the day...haha. I used a bucket with a baggie in it, wasn't that big of a deal...

I'd keep an eye on the weather , looks like it could snow and blow .

In a sno bear, takes some of the challenges away, otherwise the whiskey will have to suffice.

Don't get caught with it! They'll aid with giving you a DUI if operating a "motor vehicle".

Also, Manitoba Police will give you breathalyzers on the spot for any traffic violation. It is a zero tolerance level in Canada.

I got pulled over in Saskatchewan last fall. Going 109km in a 100km highway. I have no idea where he came from. A flat stretch of road where I could see a car from a mile away. And I looked in my mirror and there he was. Nice guy, showed him my driver's license and proof of insurance. He told me to slow down and let me go. I was going 5.5 mph or 9km over the speed limit. So I slowed down. He didn't ask if I had been drinking and this was in the evening
