I feel my mind is like a teenager again, I'm close to the half century mark, where I feel I'm going too fast and it's causing me to forget things. I have never been diagnosed with add or adhd but I know have it, parents never believed in medication so the old man was hard on me because of it. Ugh it sucks sometimes, and can be quite expensive.
You aren’t alone. I get this way too. I chalk it up to just the pure volume of things I have going on at the moment and trying to juggle as much as I do. I need to start writing things down otherwise I forget or space things out. A guy only has so much time he can spend thinking about all the things that need attention that often times things go overlooked or there’s not enough time to consider everything, thats when I make errors or things get spaced out. Frustrating but not sure how to change it with all that I have going on. I figure as long as I don’t space my kids out and make them a priority the other shit will figure itself out in the end.

Just like a vehicle, as you get older the check engine light starts coming on.
Well both my vehicles have permanent check engine lights on…… they aren’t flashing yet so that’s good 😂 I suppose thats about what it’s like getting old….. just make sure the light doesn’t start flashing.

You can either adapt and overcome to what age throws at you or you can sit there and accept it.

I prefer preemptive strikes verses sitting in a defensive pos.

Nobody is immortal.
I’d add control what we can control. Diet. Weight. General health spiritual health mental health etc

Yep this is what I did since i Iet my weight get away from me the winter before, could feel it in my knees. Also losing my aunt in the spring of 2023 really put things into perspective as well, no more pop, candy, pretty much all junk food. Been eating like 80 percent chicken in the air fryer, so eating less pasta and bread as well. The 2 must things for me though is getting enough sleep and drinking lots of water, moat of us don't drink enough water to help clean out your kidneys and those dreaded kidney stones ouch!.

We've most definitely put ourselves through the ringer growing up bud between the hardcore hunting for decades, sports, softball especially, fistacuffs, hard labor work, partying; yet we're still standing somehow... Knees and elbows are starting to remind me in this cooler weather what I did to myself throughout the years but wouldn't change anything for shit..🍻(Ohhhh the tales our bbguns and shotgun barrels could tell...)

Spot on Rut,good read.
I don't minimize much but theese elbows and beer belly have been through far too much honestly.. If you didn't grow up belly crawling over hills or sloughs with thousands of snow geese 5' in front of you, laying on the other side of the hill while your partner in crime pushes the flock over you; you haven't lived..
ducks were inclined to a spinning lucky duck in the 90s and it makes me appreciate it so much growing up in the days of absolute glory...talk about wishing to re-live it all...
As I've gotten older, going out coyote calling solo is something special to be completely honest!

Got told by a counselor and my wife that maybe I have ADHD or something like that, saw my doctor and after we talked for a bit he said "congratulations you are human and you have a life". Kind of want to tell wife and counselor where to stick their theory (which I never agreed with anyways) but then I suppose I wouldn't be practicing my anger management very well.
refined sugar candy, etc. make me ache and generally feel like hell

only rarely will I eat them

they're truly the devil for my genetics
Since I quite drinking 20 months ago I have been bad about eating sweets, ice cream, etc. I need to start cutting those back and I do like Jersey Mike's subs and Culvers a little too much. When I drank I wasn't to much for sweets.

I've noticed I really don't care to kill stuff anymore. I mean I still do, but hunting in general isn't that big of a deal to me anymore. Not to mention all the other "negative" aspects that come with hunting now-a-days.

I'd rather ring steel.

I am the same way. I used to hunt way more than I fished and now it's the other way around. I find fishing to be relaxing and way less work.

I have had my fill of hunting. Not because I’m tired of it but it’s impossible with my health. Fishing and gardening keep me busy now days. I never dreamt that the day would come but it did. So goes it.

Agree. It is also fun to punch holes in paper. Was at the range this morning!

I like steel because it’s instant gratification. It’s very satisfying hearing the CLANK and seeing it swing.
