Been saving some old pots and pans. Got about 60ft of 1/4 inch cable and going to string it between a couple of my back yard trees late this fall when lawn mowing is done. Use some old steel leaders to hang them and cloths pins to keep them in place. Should work well with 22 or17 for some winter time boredem out the kitchen window. LB

I tend to talk more to young hunters these days than do it myself. Living vicariously through them. By the time I make it through the week, just not enough ambition. Plus, there are usually 5 projects waiting for me. Hated apartment Living, but your weekends were yours...

I like steel because it’s instant gratification. It’s very satisfying hearing the CLANK and seeing it swing.
My competition days are over but instant gratification was boring to me. You must have meant hearing the CLANK 3 seconds or more after the swing. The longer the wait the bigger the smile.

I haven't shot my deer rifle in 4 years, keep my .204 in the back seat for the random yote I come across in my travels.
I finally have a buck tag, however so does my son and wife, so I will likely not be shooting this year either.
Good luck to them !

^^^^^^^^ You are a kind a generous man! ^^^^^^^^^^
I think its this age thing we are talking about.
It really means very little to me anymore. The buck fever ran its course, and has been gone for several years now.
My son is 18, and it is now his time. Mrs johnr is probably in the same boat as me. I might not even deer hunt when the boy leaves the nest. I prefer to shoot a limit of birds until the cold sets in.
