Was quite surprised yesterday, seeing about 75 to 100 birds on a wind blowed soybean field. Have no idea where they are hideing as there was not a lot of cover around. They must have come from miles around.

I didn’t see a bird all fall bow or rifle hunting. Our coyote/pheasant hunt came around and I could have filled a pickup box with roosters

Just checked Weather Bucket. Fargo pheasants are safe for now. -13 outside right now. Yes, I’ve seen pheasants in my neighborhood and more than once. Also, that’s bunny poop. Bunny population needs an injection of coyote.

The last couple of days I’ve put out a few boughten wildlife food blocks and some homemade ones along with a few buckets of corn. This won’t help much if we get the freezing rain though. The birds I hunt have some deep draws and bullberry thickets to get some protection from the weather so hopefully we carry some through. If they find the homemade blocks that will help them put on some fat and energy. The blocks are about 1.5 gallons of scratch grains and 3lbs of melted vegetable shortening mixed in. The birds eat them like crazy and when I feed them during the years when the winter is bad with season still open I can’t believe how fat and healthy the birds are that have been eating them. I don’t think the deer eat them but turkeys will absolutely destroy them. Pretty cheap and easy feed for the birds.

Fok this --- the next 4 weeks is just shit -- colder than normal temps -- and they just dropped down the colder than normal to include Sodak big time. The only thing this weather is good for it burning up natural gas. Dig that coal and burn it baby i want to see that smoke in the air. Barrow AK is a good 14 degrees warmer today than this armpit we call ND
