Happy Birthday to an old warrior

I bought my Winchester M1 Garand 1621199 from the CMP about 8 years ago.

I asked one the the guys who does research on the CMP board if he could find out when it was made. He sent me this "Your Garand was made the morning of April 17, 1945. The production day started with 1621131 and ended at 1621500 so yours was made while the coffee was still warm in the morning".

A lot has gone on in the last 73 years it's been around, I wish it could talk.

I'll charge up the camera and take a few pics when I get back from the VA today if anyone is interested.

Dad's Garand from the Korean War . In addition to a couple Koreans it has taken 30 deer , 10 antelope and at least a dozen turkeys have had their heads lopped off .

I got a chance to shoot it yesterday on the way hime from the VA. I ran 4 clips through it with no problem, gotta love the bam, bam, bam, bam, bam, bam, bam, bam, ping. I had a lot of rounds in the black too!

Well I found the camera in the van, the batteries dead so now the hunt for the charging cable.
