If you want Red Rider BB gun quite shoot the 190 gr Hornady Sub-X. Hodgdon Trail Boss powder was developed for cowboy action shoots, but reloader quickly realized it woukd load any rifle subsonic with good accuracy.
I shoot the 190gr in two of my 308s. The information I read instructed a person to fill the cartridge case to the shoulder then weigh that and multiply the weight by .75 and start from there and go down. Following those directions gave me hmmmm if I remember somewhere around 1500vfps. Since the sound barrier at sea level is 1116 fps I started reducing the load until 10.3 gr gave me 996 to 1005 fps. The powder is bulky so it fills the case well. The Hodgdon one pound canister filled to the very top only holds nine ounces.

With a Vortex scope with adjustable turrets you can reach 300 yards, and with surprising accuracy. I know it groups withing a golf ball at 100 yards. If you leave your 308 sighted in for standard loads at 100 yards you will need to click up six inches for 25 yards, ten inches for 100 yards, and 42 inches for 300 yards. You scope hight above bore and velocity will change all those settings. Interestingly when your not pushing air that hard you don't loose velocity as fast. It still smacks a six inch steel plate hard at 300 yards.

I must have typed and read whole thing wrong. I meant to say 22 ARC. I just read his post incorrectly. Sorry about that
You had me excited then confused then hopeful. With the reputation the Ruger American has built for the price plus I'm a Ruger fan anyway.

The Banish 30 is not the quietest can on the market, but it's pretty solid. It's hard to do much with that supersonic "crack", especially from a short barrel. Subs are a lot of fun. A suppressed subsonic 22LR is stupid quiet.
I sent a email to Silencer Central and they said the Banish 30 is the most quiet suppressor they have. Do you know of one that is better or quieter?

For 2 more days Silencer Central will pay the tax stamp. So a savings of 200.00.

Look at the Pew Science rankings, filter it by "Ammunition" to "Supersonic 308" and then sort by "overall composite suppression ranking". The "Banish Gold" does a bit better (#18) than the regular "Banish 30" (#32).
The PTR Vent 1 is #1, and by a good margin. I've been looking at them, but man they are spendy, and I don't really need another 30 cal suppressor. Or do I...

If you're not familiar with Pew Science, the guy does some mind-numbingly rigorous testing and measuring of suppressors.

I have a varminter 30 and my diligent lti is more quiet. My varminter 30 on my 224 valk vs my banish 22 cal is more quiet. I can only imagine the diligent beating that hands down. I use the banish as it’s shorter than the varminter but I’m thinking I may go with the diligent on that too. The diligent makes a 16.5 inch 308 sound like a .22 rimfire. A 6mm creed is more quiet.

Northern Plains gunshop in Moorhead sells the PTR Vent 1. I'm going to stop in and do the paperwork for one. I guess if I'm going to have another one it just as well be the best. There like 1300.00 plus tax stamp and sales tax.

Sorry, I didn't mean to spend your money for you :).
I actually just bought one too from Capital Armory. They're based out of Texas, but make the process pretty simple. I bought it Tuesday, and I'm already at the pending ATF approval stage.

Wish the Trump team would push to make it so a guy can walk into a store, grab your can off the shelf, pay and head out the door.
Then again maybe it has saved me money in the long run. Planning on getting 2 from SS, won 2 gift certificates at pur SCI Banquet this spring.

And it's approved, 1 day later. My last one took almost a year...
I still have to wait the 7 days for them to notify the sheriff before they'll ship it, but holy crap that was fast.
