There was a time we had a few cottontails too and now and then see them in town, but it has been years since in the farm yard. db

I saw a jackrabbit yesterday up northeast of Steele. First one I've seen in the country in some time.

Too many coyotes around nowadays, the coyote and jackrabbit populations are inversely related. When coyote prices get high, plenty of jackrabbits around. Low coyote prices and they're almost as rare as hen's teeth IMHO.

I remember about 20 years ago the GF Herald was running story after story about the sightings of a 2' tall rabbit...someone finally got a picture and clued the city folk in about jack rabbits. 🤣
