I made a booboo. I have the compact 18V Milwaukee 1/2" drill with 400something ft/lb torque not 700-someftlb like a standard 18V 1/2" drill. Will it work? Will I kill brushes etc.? I know it worked on a 6" strikemaster auger a couple years ago.

Also - what other auger cap fits the k drill? The OEM one is redonkulously huge! (I suppose cuz it's a 6")

According to the Vexilar engineer I spoke with a couple weeks ago..... You will absolutely kill your drill. He says DO NOT USE A DRILL UNLESS IT IS BRUSHLESS!!!! Maybe short bursts of use in 5 inches or less.

I had a custom adapter made for my Tanaka powerhead. Still only about 17lbs total.

I doubt if it will work very good compared to the bigger badder 700 but never tried it.
The covers are a bit overkill, but it's hard to lose it, you can see that huge orange plastic from a mile away

I actually need a battery powered Milwaukee hammer drill. Anybody use that one successfully?

That hammer drill could very well come with a switch to go from hammer to regular drill so you may be able to kill 2 birds with one stone there. I've got a couple different hammer drills that can be used for both, just have to check if it's still the right amount of torque you need i spose...

Milwaukee 2603, 2703 or Dewalt DCD990M2 are whats recommended. I'm sure they don't make those recommendations just for shits and giggles.

Wouldn't it have just been easier to fork out the coin for an ION?

Can I use my 4 Milwaukee batteries as spares on a big trip?

Can I use the Ion to build a deck or hang a shelf?

smarta$$! ;)

p.s.

You should buy a SnoBear and take me fishing!

I have considered getting an electric as well and go back and forth between the K-drill and the new and improved ion. With the k-drill I would have to buy a new drill which I know you can use it for many other things in the off season but I just bought a new 18v dewalt last year and have lots of cordless tools for that system so another cordless drill wouldn't help me much. Which drills more inches of ice, the ion with one battery (new style, not old) or the k-drill/Milwaukee with 2 batteries?

Kinda makes it a no brainer to go Kdrill with a Milwaukee fuel.
That combo will be my next auger

I think there is a dewalt they say will work pretty well too, but you really should trade that yellow stuff in on a nice shiny red set of tools

Coworker states that the dewalt doesn't cut it. Any decent thickness of ice burns the dewalt up. They burned up 3 last year

Just picked up the brushless fuel drill on Ebay for under $100. Since you have the batteries this would be the route i would go.
