Shh. You're going to hurt the walleye feelers. Walleyes are, hands down, the smartest, finickiest, toughest to catch fish that ever swam. You should be lucky that you've ever even seen one, let alone caught one. And you know as well as I do that dragging a spinner around and listening to the drone of the idling motor all day is WAY more fun than any other type of fishing. All other species should bow down to the hardest fighting, highest jumping, mightiest fish in the river, the illustrious walleye! Hahaha.

They're easy to catch, easy to clean, and easy to cook. Come at me bros.

don't get me wrong I love walleye fishing. I like to buck the trend on the whole having troll or live bait rig for them at all times. the walleye snobs that put the fish on unicorn status so they can pump their chest out when they get a limit is dumb though.

just like the dish rags at cleaning stations chirping about what size fish a guy should or shouldn't keep

I see i am rubbing off

after the photo op you pitched in back in the cattails right?
Actually I was holding it for a buddy that was bowfishing. He shot it William Tell style off my head. Prick didn't even offer to buy me a new hat

holding your fly rod in your mouth added a nice touch to the photo but holding the carp in your mouth would bring it to a whole new level. You should get a free NDA hat for that act of selflessness

who would catch five respectable fish faster - a bass guy fishing walleyes on devils, or a walleye guy fishing bass on say Mille lacs? both top notch fisheries for the given species.

I know where I'd put my money

The guy walleye fishing on sakakawea would catch 5 smallies first

Is that the best you can do? I'll have you know I only cried for 15 minutes after reading this.

Tears are good for your beard so you are welcome

i know drowning worms is very technical, and that's why I left sak out of the discussion.

I should add, I spent a weekend targeting smallmouth on Mille lacs last fall. didn't catch a single one hahaha. oddly enough caught a bunch of walleyes though pitching plastics and hair jigs on reefs.

you never said you had to follow regulations so guess he will have to troll with two rods and have a couple rigged up for quick putting lines back out

Walleyes like hula poppers?

Are hula poppers what you guys use when trolling lead core in SD?

- - - Updated - - -

KVD likes spinners and bottom bouncers for DL walleye

I think KVD would want to catch pigs not the 16"-17" eaters.

- - - Updated - - -

If he did come to ND I imagine smallmouth would be the target though. Not so sure he would be any better than the good locals on DL for walleye. Different game.

Possibly. I'd be more interested in the tactics he would use....not just the standard lead core trolling bite or ripping jigging the rocks piles.

first time on devils - practiced and fished chamber back in mid 90s. Nothing in my box resembled a walleye lure. Didnt have a single spinning rod along - all baitcasters; no live bait. I bought maybe 4 or 5 huskies up in devils -- used them and caught northerns --- my getter cranks -- were all fat, rattletraps and i even caught some on carolinas. Placed somewhere in the teens. Caught majority of the fish on a little n.

I see you know little of top water Bass fishing. The hula poper is an og bass lure. New techniques are over rated I want numbers and lead core and bouncers fill the live well. On a side note small mouth eat pretty damn good we fried a bunch up last year.

I"m pretty familiar with hula poppers. I've caught my fair share of sea gulls with those deadly lures.

The point of the topic was specific to DL since it fishes more like a bass lake than it does a walleye lake. I'm one that can't stand trolling or live bait. Hell, if a guy wants numbers of DL, just toss out a slip bobber on any given sunken ridge or point.

I also know that getting a BASS angler to DL has about a 1% chance of happening.

On a different note, I drove through Pollock today. Is that bay that backs up to the east & west of the highway accessible by boat? That looks like a target rich environment with all those flooded cattails. Could be fun pulling lead core through those!:;:stirthepot
