Has anyone been using Langlier's boat ramp south of Bismarck? If so any issues launching a boat due to low water? Also, any fish being caught? Thanks for any intel.

I went fishing in Mobridge yesterday and there were a lot of boats out. We didn't catch 1 walleye. We went south and targeted deeper structures. I did land 5 nice smallies in 20 fow and was fun seeing them take my jig on live scan.

Know a couple people who've been out the last few days in the beaver-state line area, sounds like it's still pretty slow unfortunately.

Slow from what I've seen and heard, but I've only been out a couple times.

One thing I noticed is the bait balls. Where ever we went there were balls of bait. The fancy sonar shows them clearly.

@Allen, is there river gauge data available that could be used to determine remotely if ramps south of Bismarck are usable? I did not find what I was hoping for on USGS site.

For example, if a ramp is dicey at current elevation then it would be useful to know current elevation to compare in future.

I fished the SD side last week looking for big fish. It was as fairly slow but the fish caught were decent. I’ve never marked bait like we did on Oahe. Bigger bait in some schools and huge schools of small bait. Big enough to confuse the sonar depth in some cases. Lots of relation to flooded trees too. We marked lots of fish but not many takers and guessing that is why.

Yeah that is good to see. Fish I've caught on the ND side have belly fat like sakakawea fish.

Here's the USGS link to river gages in the state: https://waterdata.usgs.gov/state/north-dakota/#dataTypes=00065

On there, you will see all of the Missouri River gages that are operational, including Missouri R. Above Mandan, Missouri R. at Bismarck, Missouri River Below Mandan, and the Missouri River at Schmidt. That pretty much covers the area I think you are interested in. Note, if you don't see all those gages listed in either Burleigh or Morton counties, you will want to click the box to show gages with elevation, the default is "discharge".

At this time of year, it really doesn't matter which gage location you wish to use in your correlating ramp access to water elevation/discharge. Reason for that is because the water that's in the Missouri River right now is largely the discharge out of Garrison Dam. All the small tributaries below Garrison Dam combined are only about 1-10% of the water in the river this late in the fall.

This will work well for you until you get down to Hazelton. At low water in Oahe, the Hazelton area is pretty much a river. But, as Oahe rises, it eventually turns into more lake-like conditions, which the above gages would not reflect very well. Anything below Hazelton and you will certainly want to use Lake Oahe's elevation.

My buddy went south of Mobridge last Thursday and Friday with same results....1 fish in 2 days. He could see fish swimming into the bait balls and back out ob live sonar.

This week Tuesday there was a boat out jigging our intake right at town. 2 guys in a dirty Alumacraft and a dog that looked like a springer. Wonder how they did. That can be a good spot in the fall and early ice.
