mrs johnr picked me up some new leather boots yesterday on her way home from the Garth Brooks festival in Fargo sunday night.
Anyway they are the right length, but somewhat tight on my high arched foot. Will they naturally break in and stretch out over time, or do I need to exchange, or do some sort of conditioning.

Any of you guys with experience give me a heads up. Thanks

its been years since I have broke in a pair of leather boots, and think maybe my foot has changed shape somewhat

If it's a riding boot, I'd condition the eff out of them with Neat's Foot Oil (inside and out) and wear them as much as possible doing mundane deals. Another option would be to soak in water, wear as much as possible then condition in the same way before they shrink. This may be faster and give a good worn look. I'm a huge fan of Neat's.

Broke in several pairs of all leather combat boots by wearing them in the shower, getting them totally soaked, and then walking them dry. The suede type boots they have now require much less break in, but they are nowhere near as durable as the old style black leather ones of the old days. Hope your feet don't hurt too much. Good Luck!!!

if your talking cowboy boots, throw a beer can or cup in the top of the foot spot that is tight when you aren't wearing them, conditioning them doesn't hurt either. I got some stuff from the stock show a while back that helps to soften and clean, but I am sure most decent leather care stuff will work. Then either wear them a lot or if they are that tight go back and get a different boot.

Get them soaking wet and walk them dry. Takes the brand new look away and they fit like a glove. Maybe some mink oil to soften them up a little and water resistant the outside.

I put them on after lunch and have been wearing them in the office all afternoon. They have actually loosened a bit on the top of my foot, and don't feel like they are crushing down any more. Might just be my foot has grown accustomed to the slight pressure, or they are actually loosening up some.

If they are tight after a couple times of wear still, I will soak and walk them dry as suggested.

they look pretty bad ass so I sure don't want to eff them up

You're going to get a blister and the above posts are how to avoid it for pussies.

Don't forget to properly break in your ass-less chaps before extended wear.
