I just got a vote no pamphlet in the mail. are people so ignorant they will fall for the scare tactics? I understand the way it is written there are flaws that can be interpreted different depending on what you want to believe. 50 percent of all fatal crashes in the usa involved drivers on weed?? chronic tardiness? this pamphlet is all I need to make me vote yes on 3

I agree wholeheartedly that the legislature either willfully or carelessly crapped the medical MJ down their leg which resulted in a slap in the face to the voters

I too am conflicted

^^^ I'm just leery of being that guy

My mother asked for medical marijuana at Sanford health for her cancer. They talked to her about the same as everyone is acting on this thread. She felt terrible for asking afterwards.

Of course the doctor then gave her opioids and a bunch of other pills to counter act all of side effects of the opioids.

Most people have addictive behaviors? That's a bit of a reach. I would say most people can handle alcohol, weed, gambling perfectly fine. You have about 10% of the adult population that has had an issue at some point, and that includes illicit drugs. Comparing weed to Opioids is dumb.

I didn't say that all addictions were destructive.

Can you think of something you do or use that might fall into this. I know when I get on the boat it is really hard for me to get out.

Washington just did this, Massachusetts is working on it. Pennsylvania will vote on legalization in November like us, they also have the expungement on written into their measure. That little mark on your record can stop a person from becoming a valued member of society. Think about how many people got MIP when they were 18 or 19. If that stopped them from getting a job because they got caught drinking a beer wouldn't it be good to not have that on their record so they could get a job in a career rather then just a job? The expungement of past non violent weed records will have positive repercussions for ND in my option.

If that little mark can stop someone from getting a job, I think they should've thought about that before. You broke the law. Too bad. Any company can still hire you with, or without, a criminal record. They can ignore weed charges too if they want. It's the decision of the business owner, not a free pass. The MIP argument is poor at best. Once they turn 21 and it's legal doesn't mean their record is expunged. Keep the charge on there. Expunging it means it didn't happen. That's BS. My vote is still no until that part of the measure is gone.

I agree with you bigbrad123. Smoking/selling/possessing marijuana, whether or not you think it should be illegal or legal NOW, was illegal. The people with records regarding its usage, etc. Broke the law.

I get the idea behind expungement, but then again, they DID break the law. It was not a new law. It did not sneak up on anyone.

To be fair, I have broken the law more than once. And when I was caught, I accepted the results.

Addiction is a brain disorder characterized by compulsive engagement in rewarding stimuli despite adverse consequences

I don't think to many people consider something an addiction if it isn't affecting you negatively. Its just a passion, hobby or interest otherwise.

Most people I know that smoked it felt they HAD to in order to focus or relax. They didn't think about what the affects it was having on their body in a negative way. Cant wait till I'm 80 and get to read about all the lawsuits against big pot and how their responsible for the health issues of it.

Btw. Just read a article on how liver disease is on the rise. So just keep drinking those blue num nums

I agree up to the point of a no vote till it's gone . I have no idea what they were thinking when they included expunging in M3 . But don't our leaders have a final say in the matter and can abolish that portion of the measure the same way they abolished parts of the medical measure ? They say there isn't enough time or money, Typical response considering how they are milking the medical measure.

The financial trade off is a bonus that is being swept under the rug, All we hear is how much time and money this is going to take.

Most states that have legalized have or are in the process of expunging weed convictions. I dont really like the idea of long lasting criminal records, basically punishing people forever. My understanding of how europe works is once you do your time, you can start over fresh again. Not a bad idea, except for probably sex offenders...

Canada's biggest concern is not getting taxes from the underground market. It will eventually disappear I'm sure.

Im pro m3, but what? Your first paragraph made some sense but not the second. Would it be better if a black or Hispanic or Asian made the laws? Also, I love breakfast in bed so don’t you go petitioning to outlaw that. I still do enjoy my Don Draper-esque lifestyle on occasion

You, sir, earned yourself some blue num-nums. Thanks for the reply.

I don't care what color or age they are....I'm sick of the self-serving, self-righteous behavior of our government officials who were elected to carry out the will of their constituents. They continue to prove time and again (Blue Law, medical MJ....) that they will do what they want regardless of the vote and it is embarrassing to the process. I am angry about it and didn't choose the best words to articulate my point. I vote, and will continue to try and do something about it.

I owe you a beer if we ever cross paths!

My thoughts on the expungement part: not a big concern. I also disagree with that part. But, it's not a deal breaker for me. Forest thru the trees. Don't hurt me if they expunge a pot smokers record. It being criminal at the moment is a much bigger concern to this fella.
