I saw this post on FB and there were no comments suggesting they broke any laws. Is this a Native American thing in MN ?

FRIDAY was a fanstastic night on Mille Lacs Lake Minnesota with my brother Dan Chapman Sr. Our night yielded 100 walleyes ranging from 11 inches to 30 inches, for about 300 pounds. Some biggens' pumped up the weight average from 2.5 to about 3lbs per fish... Anyway, we cleaned em all up and just about ready to bag up 200 very nice size fillets for our family. I must say, still at our age, we bring them inside the boat pretty fast- about 1 hour 15 minutes of actual spear in hand time.

Done on every reservation lake in MN. Nothing new. Been a political hot potato for decades. That dead horse has been not only beat, but pulverized, and the hole it was buried in has been beat to damn near the center of the earth.

Treaty rights are awesome and I wish I could sign one.

They should be forced to do it out of a birch bark canoe with a stick they carved from flint, to honor their ancestors.

Five years ago, I was sitting in a tree over there and bear hunting on September 1. Along comes the tribe through the woods doing a deer drive with their AR-15s, just like their ancestors used to. Didn't see a bear that night.

Agreed - a "period tools only" rule seems like it would make it more palatable. And would make it more meaningful to them as well.

Here is a response, from the creator of that video.
Makes things more interesting, if true.
