One step closer to the end.
Nah I'm from wisconsin

well that is even worse. they are a bunch of scumbags. :;:

it appears the farther east the worse it is :;:

one could only imagine if a michigander showed up

actually met a couple of them by Upham back in the late 90's
they were nice
must have been an anomaly :;:

that would be before the millenials ruined it for everyone :;:

I have hunted in numerous states. IMO the disrespect for property/others has grown through the years. Or maybe, people are just more outspoken now. ??

Thinking before the "Gazeteers" and internet, it all was a lot better . . .

Some minnesota bears get tired of nuts and berries, even tho we have a banner acorn summer here some family friendly bears stop bye to say hello and are looking for sweets from they're friendly human man folk.

I’m thinking about going to shot a bear someday, are there any areas or guides you recommend I contact to setup a hunt. How much is the average cost?

I went with Blooming Valley outfitters a few years back. They were great guys with lots of bears in the no quota area. Price may be different now but when I went it was $1800 plus $200 for non res tag. That included lodging, food, an active stand, skinning etc. I recommend them. Check out on web.

If I wanted to take a trophy black bear one might consider alaska, hookup with a outfitter out of anchorage, some guides hunt exclusively from boats when the tide is out come spring and they have long thick fur from the long winter,no baiting required.

OR~

If alaska isn't an option we get some dandy's in the BWCA wilderness area in northeast minnesota, seems every year someone gets a monster,500lb plus bruin but unsure how the license system works up there, never had the desire to check into it.

Bear hunts arnt cheap anymore.
If I was guiding, it would be a minimum 1200.00.
GOOD bait is spendy. The days of free pasteries r all but over.
The way it's looking this year, I could easially bring in 20 hunters and have a great chance of filling out.I

Ya we are spending about a grand just for bait on 9 sites. Going up Saturday to check them and get cameras on all of them and possibly hang a couple stands.

Its really dry up north and no berry crop. Getting excited!

Driving from Williston, unless you have great connections and friends over in bear country, it would be better to just hire a guide. The driving back and forth to keep up with baiting would probably pay for the guide in just your gas. And as mentioned, free bait is hard to come by any more.

When I was bear hunting around Bemidji, to me the baiting was really fun. I had 3 sites and had 12"+ wet aspen logs on each crib. It was crazy to go see those big logs tossed around like pick up sticks. There were also many times I had pictures of bears on the bait within 10 minutes of leaving. So I know they were just sitting back there watching me bait haha.

I also had some connections with a little debbie distributer and got a lot of expired snacks. Also got 100 gallons of free grease from a DQ in Grand Forks.

Heading out in the morning to set out baits, it will be a sleepless night as I love the baiting almost more than the hunting.

You should do well this year.
I'm not planning on hunting till 3-4 weeks but got 4 youngsters I'll be taking before I hunt.
Got a few real brusers around and I normally like the 200_250 lber,s, I may hold out for a biggie this year.
Never have shot a biggie. Lots of boo- boos though:;:rockit

I know that feeling, our largest so far was 304 on the scale shot by my son the first time he went with at age 14. The was by far the most fun bear hunt I have been on. I have a newbie with this year so it will be another fun year. Stories around the campfire can keep you laughing, especially with new hunters along!

Good Luck!

We would always laugh about the darn bears will walk over 20 pounds of prime rib to get at a couple of Ho-Ho's!

Checked baits yesterday. All 8 are being hit

we had 3 cams out and all 3 have bears coming in daylight. One has a smaller sized cinnamon and one has two bears. All 8 baits have cams now! The big decision Saturday will be to which spot to hunt

Bear in corn.jpg
Bear are really hitting the corns this year. This field has about a 150 yards of trees between it and a marsh and they are really hitting it hard. Set cameras on a couple trails and am really anxious to see what and how many are feeding here?

The stalk they left must be a "GMO" stalk that tasted bad?
