Missouri River rise

That map literally has nothing to do with remaining snow. That is just the short term current streamflow for that day compared to the 30 year average. One large rain could jump everything up on that map and have literally nothing to do with snow runoff. Here is the map showing remaining snow water equivalent, notice how this year is bottomed out. Also notice how 97,11 had more water equivalent and a longer runoff. Hell this years Snow melt as actually done sooner than average.

take a look at this map and tell me the runoff is about done.

That's a percent of normal map which means it doesn't mean anything if you don't have the knowledge of what normal is. If you have one inch on the ground and there would normally be a half an inch you would have 200% of normal. Without context that map means nothing if you want the context take a look back at the map I posted of the current snowfall amount that are actually sitting there!

The snow runoff is about done, and this year just didn't have the Snowpack of 2011 or even 1997. They already drain the lake to 1837 every year which gives them 17' if room to work with. If they drained it another 5-10 feet like the whiners think they should, the damn thing would be dry if we got into even a 2-3 year dry cycle. 1 flood in 65 years of the dam, this year likely wont even hit minor flood stage. NO CHANGE NEEDED!

MANDAN, N.D. - At Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park, the flooding could spell out trouble, not just for campers, but for the endangered bird populations who burrow in the muddy banks of the Missouri.


"The piping plover least turns nest on sandbars, and when we have these high river flows, a lot of the sandbars are covered up by the water so it doesn't help them." said Dan Schelske, Fort Abraham Lincoln park manager.

Both fox and Meriwether's are officially closed. Fox is flipping stupid though the way they did it. It's perfectly logical to not let anybody dock a boat out of there but the vast majority of the parking lot is high and dry so there's no reason to block it at the entrance leaving people who are either going down there gawking or going down there shore fishing any place to park. No reason they couldn't have just barricaded off the ramp itself and left the vast majority the parking lot open up until the Corps of Engineers lets more water out and actually floods it.

No reason they couldn't have just barricaded off the ramp itself and left the vast majority the parking lot open up until the Corps of Engineers lets more water out and actually floods it.

Was just driving around the area and yeah they baricaded the fox area off but i see no reason why meriwethers would be a no go, all they did was pull the dock out of the water. Misty waters and Kneifel ramps have water all the way to the top but still usable both had boats going in and out but another foot or two one would need to lower the bimini top on the pontoons to get under the bridge there.

Yea same problem at Southport with the low bridge and the pontoon canopies. Overall the park district / County doesn't seem to have a clue what they're doing they did the same thing on South Washington Street they put the damn barricades up right at the entrance to Sibley Park. It's one thing to close the road but at least use you brain and move barricades 50 yards to the South to at least give people a place to park because I'm not sure if they're aware of this but whether it's high or low everybody's going down there because of the water anyways. It's not like there will suddenly be no intrest in the river since it's high. May change the demographic of people using it say from beachgoers now to people hunting carp or whatever but there's no reason to make it impossible to get to or at least a royal pain in the ass and end up having to block roads well trying to park.

They block off the entire area because not everybody is smart enough to stay out. Some kid drives down there at night, the water continues to rise, he doesn’t see it and drives in to it. Now somebody has to go rescue him.

Same thing with some guys fishing, etc.

i guess they should consult NDA posters before they do what they do.
