If you're gonna ride you have to accept the risk for what it is. For me it's something I'm not willing to give up. Every year when I put it away I think to myself I'm surprised I made it through another year. Everyone still dies so might as well do things that keep you sane and happy.

Does anybody know who still works on old 2 cycle motorcycles, I have a 1976 Yamaha DT400 hasn't been started in 40 years, doesn't have any spark, turns over good
If you can get your hands on a manual or the resistance specs ohm out the stator and the coil. But maybe try a new plug first lol

I live by two rules... 1) Stay out of town as much as possible. That's not a fresh air ride, the highway is fresh air. I'd much rather smell the cow dung from going past a farm than the fumes of vehicles at a stoplight. 2) Respect the metal that is under your tush. It's only 800 pounds and there's nothing stopping a person from meeting someone else's metal frame.

I've had a handful of close calls, yes, but it will be my time when the Lord says it's my time. Riding my motorcycle is much better than sitting inside of my home staring at the walls or watching the Academy Awards! LOL

Might be able to just do a search for that on the net too. It’s most likely the coil or stator then. Very common.

Started in my 87’ yz250 that I’ll race vintage races on.

Did you go with 1991 Graphics on the the 1992? I had a 1990 CR 250 and a 1993 CR 250.

BTW, unless you swapped the white air box to a grey air box that is a 1991 model.

Finally got it out for a ride and took a couple of better photos.

08FLHTP-2.jpg

This is what I've done to it so far.

Lower fairings and highway pegs, tour pack, mid frame air deflectors, shift linkage, converted all lights to LED and added smoked lenses, did a Stage one - Arlen Ness Big Sucker intake and 4" slip on mufflers, Mustang Super Touring seat.

I think I'm done for awhile

Cool CR, eye. How did you bring back the plastics or did you replace them?

Put about 130 on the street glide on Saturday, was fairly windy, but did it ever rejuvenate this old dog.

I believe mine is a '14 special also, just about 30,000 miles under my butt on this one

glide.jpg

Put 14 inch bars on it last year down at the rally, sure do like having my hands up a bit, way less rider fatigue.

I wasn't sure I'd like the higher bars, but they are way more comfortable.

I decided I needed more room to haul sh,, I mean stuff. Picked up a used tour pack and had a local shop paint it to match.

Decided the black luggage rack and latches looked funny with all the other chrome so I changed those, and added led lights to the tour pack.

I’ve put more miles on this bike since June than I have on my pickup for the year.
