Ok give me some thoughts.
First I think cool temperatures make powder burn at a lower rate. Barrels 22 inches long don't get advertised velocities, and they drop 100 to 200 fps from your handloads. I think when cold slows you powder a longer barrel will burn all of it.
Real question here for once....
When you're setting your dope for velocity will you use the cold barrel or 3 shot average? I've done both but have typically selected 3 shot and usually my deviation isn't too far off where out to my comfortable range it doesn't make a huge difference, but there is still a difference. Wondering what you do and maybe I need to change my thinking?
what do the little balls boys shoot?Just don't see the need for the super large caliber unless your elephant or rhino hunting. Don't think they would be considered an investment as not a real market for them. Many just like collecting guns which is very cool. I get it, a lot of it is the big balls contest
I have a buddy that has over 60 guns/pistols and admittedly only uses 5 of them.
The only rifle I have cold bore data on is my FNA3G. Iām not even sure why I bother with that one to be completely honest. Other than I used it for F-class and fantasize about making cold bore shots on the āRussiansā when red dawn comes down the pike.Real question here for once....

Do you realize how far away from any Turnpike Toll Road we are here in ND? You're gonna have'ta hump a LONG ways east to find Red Dawn coming down the 'Pike. The only rifle I have cold bore data on is my FNA3G. Your guess . . .what do the little balls boys shoot?
With new bullet construction and a little understanding of terminal ballistics there is a reason people are going away from big 30,s and 7ās to the 6mm and 22 cal variantswhat do the little balls boys shoot?

Next spring I'm going to work up a load for 75gn Swift Scirocco II's in the 22Creed.......With new bullet construction and a little understanding of terminal ballistics there is a reason people are going away from big 30,s and 7ās to the 6mm and 22 cal variants
Bettin that puts holes in stuff real good and enjoyable to shootNext spring I'm going to work up a load for 75gn Swift Scirocco II's in the 22Creed.......
I loaded up some Hornady 80gr ELD-X for my 22 Creedmoor today. I figured I would use it for Deer this year. They don't shoot as good as Bergers 85.5 gr bullets. The Bergers are a 10 shot ragged hole all day long. I have a 1 - 7.5 twistNext spring I'm going to work up a load for 75gn Swift Scirocco II's in the 22Creed.......
