One step closer to the end.
Jones signed with the Vikes for 7 million. The Pack signs a guy 3 years younger coming off career lows for 48 million 14 of which is due this year….doesn’t make sense to me but what do I know
Jones is a stud. Hopefully he has some miles left in the tank and doesn't start to have a whole bunch of non-warranty work flare up.
Will maybe see how much of it was the O-line/calls. So subjective. But hey we can all be Monday morning quarterbacks again soon.

Go Queens!

Don't know what the Pack was thinking in cutting Jones. Solid, solid, solid.
Just look at the team, when Jones was hurt, compared to when he was playing. No comparison.
Heck of a team guy also.

The vikes need a QB but if there isn't one worth a shit wait...wait until there is one worth a shit. Save your money and your picks then when there is one go for it and throw absolutely everything you have for that qb and that team..yeah probably suck a few years but you may then actually have a shot.

I believe what happened to Russell will be very similar to what happens to cousins..hope not but I do believe it will take place. Vikings should go after wentz for absolutely dirt cheap gut the team and start fresh...wit wentz understandingthis from the start...and maybe he could help build it????..get away from the prior gm and coach setup. It would be unbelievably hard to convince the fans and ownership but....a REAL chance at a superbowl in 4 years maybe?....and dont waste any money on a 2 year quarter back or someone like fields etc. ..my as well go with wentz..cheaper and you know what you got. Save pics and money to actually go after a REAL franchise quarter back..not some used up guy that shows a little promise.......just a thought....probably wrong.
Not a chance, Russel and Kirk play completely different games. Russ relies on his legs and has never been a pocket passer. So when he got old and his legs slowed up just a bit he sucks. Kirk has never been a runner much like Brady never was. Kirk will be playing easily until 40 yo

Agree they play completely different but I don’t think Kirk will succeed with another team. They paid him a huge fee to end up the same as the Vikings….which is nowhere. Glad Kirk made out like a bandit though.

Vikings land first-round NFL draft pick in trade with Texans, adding ammo for possible QB move

As the NFL's 2024 free agent market dries up, the draft has been directly and indirectly affected. But Friday morning, the first round was literally shaken up.

The Minnesota Vikings have added a second first-round pick to their inventory, picking up the 23rd overall selection (and a seventh-rounder) from the Houston Texans in exchange for No. 42 overall (Round 2), a sixth-rounder this year and a second-rounder in 2025.

For the Vikes, the move opens some interesting possibilities. A team that now appears to be in some semblance of a rebuild following the free agent departure of quarterback Kirk Cousins can now bring in a pair of premium players on April 25, the draft's opening night. Or, this could also be an intermediate move if Minnesota general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah is hoping to do a subsequent bundle at some point in order to move up significantly and select one of this draft's premier quarterback prospects.

Justin Jefferson #18 of the Minnesota Vikings celebrates after a touchdown during the third quarter in the game against the Detroit Lions at Ford Field on January 07, 2024 in Detroit, Michigan.

The Vikings also currently own this year's 11th overall pick. USC's Caleb Williams, LSU's Jayden Daniels, North Carolina's Drake Maye and Michigan's J.J. McCarthy are all considered potential top-10 picks at the quarterback position. Oregon's Bo Nix and Washington's Michael Penix Jr. could also wind up in the Round 1 mix.

Minnesota signed Sam Darnold this week, ostensibly as the team's new QB1. Jaren Hall, a rookie last season, and journeyman Nick Mullens, who started three games in 2023, are also on the roster.

Whatever course Adofo-Mensah charts, it will invariably have a major effect on perhaps the club's leading agenda item. All-pro wide receiver Justin Jefferson is entering his walk year, owed $19.7 million in 2024 as part of the fifth-year option of his rookie contract. Per ESPN, he turned down an extension last year which would have averaged at least $30 million annually. The state of the Vikings' quarterback room is sure to impact Jefferson's outlook of and future with the team.

Kirk will do well "if" he has a front line to give him some time and doesn't have to scramble or dump it off in under 3 seconds.

Question...in the years he was at the vikings not one year did he have this?

Pass protection was pretty weak IMO. Have never looked at the stats, but I don't think there was much % of downfield passing compared to dump offs.

Raiders cut Jimmy G and this guy would be a great addition to the TE, Hackensack could be a serious problem with cb spearing his knees
