The night my youngest son was born it rained, I had taken his two older brothers to see him and when we left the hospital the parking lot was covered with night crawlers. So we had fun and filled what we had with night crawlers. We filled about 4 of the wendys Biggie cups with them in a short time there were so many.
Now on to the storage this was in NE Nebraska and we had a root cellar and I had Styrofoam coolers so I put them in the coolers with commercial bedding.
Be sure when putting them into the bedding you put them on top and keep an eye out for dead ones laying on top.
I had to keep the cooler lids on tight or I was picking them up off the floor in the cellar but I was still fishing from that one nights haul for at least 3 years with no real maintenance as the cellar was around 50 degrees year round.
P.S. when I moved from that place I had no where to keep the ones I had left so I "seeded" the property on a rainy night with all the ones I had left. The landlady was not the nicest person and I knew the crawlers in the yard would driver her nuts
