We got 3 inches of snow last night. River is covered white now here. It may hamper ice formation.

There were 7 assorted shacks set up in front of Winona island today. (Flipovers and pop-ups only) 2 side by sides were out there amongst them. Two pickups were parked on the island, not sure how they made it there. I'm assuming they had to cross some ice somewhere in Cattail Bay.

There were a couple guys fishing by Yates ramp, so I walked out and checked thickness.

I just looked in one of their holes and I'd say all of 5 inches minimum and maybe 7.

There is sand trapped in what little snow didn't blow off in the hurricane we had Tuesday. With all the exposed shoreline there was a cloud of dirt blowing all day.

Finally made it out today!! Ice was 10 inches south of Yates a few miles. Going out the first time always sucks getting ready, for me anyway. It's been 3 years! Stepsons 1st time, but he got his 5 and liked it. I only had one bite and released a small one.

Took forever getting everything ready, 25+ year old auger worked, shack is still in good shape, and heater still works. Couldn't find my Vex not sure where it got put after the move. We drove over a bolt and had to change tire right when we got there, so I left him there at about dark when the bite is the beat and came home, cooked supper n brought my little 86 Nissan back. Drove that little guy right out to the shack!

Last Sunday we got 4 and Tuesday we moved out closer to channel break and only got 2. Ice over channel is 6" but away from it is 8-10". Lot of current.

Today we got 5 away from channel and south of Yates .. 2 14", 2 17", and a 18".
