Interesting. I don't know when my grandparents got here. I do know one worked on the first railroad through North Dakota, then went back to somewhere close to Northfield, Minnesota and picked up grandma and homesteaded along the Sheyenne River. Late 1870's I believe. My parents didn't like to repeat themselves so my older brother knows that history much better than I do.Full Blooded Norwegian - all 4 of my grandparents emigrated from Norway (Hornindal & Hallingdal) in the 1890's thru Ellis Island and homesteaded in the Westhope area in western Bottineau County. Both homesteads are still in the family.
