I caught the fish of the day yesterday as far as I was concerned! None of us even knew what kind of carp it was until a friend told me it was a mirror carp, cool looking!

On the Missouri.
"Mirror carp are considered a rare variety of common carp, appearing in a small percentage of carp populations. The recessive gene responsible for their characteristic scales makes them rare."

  • Recessive Gene:
The gene for mirror carp scales is recessive, meaning two copies of the gene are needed for a fish to express the trait.

Did you eat it? There is a restaurant near Omaha famous for their deep fried carp. Supposedly it’s delicious but I don’t think I would dare try it.

They're relatively common in Audubon. I'm surprised it's not full of bow/fly fisherman in the Dog Days (Mon/Tue/Wed}. Otherwise:

It's just a carp.. no worse than any other common carp. It's depressing how poor the average fisherman is at fish identification

WTF is this? Wonder how it tastes?

Looks like a photoshopicus known to be very elusive creature that becomes slightly more active in the dark. They are very shy creatures and typically will not let themselves be seen by more than 2-3 people at a time, a nick name for photoshopicus is Sasquatch of the Sea. It is rumored that corndogs are one of their favorite snacks and they can be notorious bait stealers.
