Pheasant opener.

Talked to a few farmers back home (SE ND) and they've been seeing very few birds while in the combine.

One guy said he hadn't seen a single bird.

Pembina aside, this is an actual report, no bull this time.

Probably try in December, that's the best time anyway.

The three six hole dog trailers I passed would say different. We get as many people staying here hunting the rez as we do state land

Me and a bud and my dog didnt bag a limit either day saturday or sunday but I will say it was one of my most favorite hunts in a long time. My 8 yr old Springer has been known to have siezures during hunting season..so Vet put her on a different med and both saturday and sunday was very very enjoyable for me watching her work!! Actually it didnt matter at all if we filled a limit or not!!! I didnt give 2 shits about limiting.

Would like to know about chokes and loads?...Been in several family arguments about expert vs first youth gun. I shot an 870 .410 several times on a GA trap range. I think my best was an 11 and I damn near had to "aim" it. Pretty sure "fit" was an issue although that's a damn small payload.

Jim Carmichel wrote an article about the .410 in the '80's. He owned two Win Mod 42s; one stamped Mod and the other Full. The choke dimensions were duplicates. He went on to say he knew skeet shooters who refused to pattern their .410s as they didn't want to "know".

I once with the aforementioned .410 (no plug/WV) knocked a fox squirrel out of a tree @ 25yds with a 3in #6. In short: It was finally dispatched at near PBR with a head shot from the last round. In my recollection only seven pellets were found in the carcass. I didn't dissect the head.

I'm not Jiffy, SDMF etc but I can hold my own.

How is this not just a cool stunt? If it's a dog thing or shotgunner thing I'm good both ways and don't GAF: Just curious with Bud Heavy.

i am aware of where they release them closer to home. i assume its pretty public information or else how would people know where to take their kids. but, i've got a general route i've taken from carrington to harvey in the past (its been a few years). that's were we went. but, no... i don't believe we hunted any release areas down there.
