Who designed that system for Minot State?
I figured it doesn’t get any worse than the Minot engineering department ..... millions of dollars wasted because of that department
MEP and associates out of Wisconsin or MN
Mouth, meet foot..........................
Ok, there's so much I'd love to get into but there's going to be no winning with many. The way this thread started was asking a question about "why" things were closing but has turned to nothing but a bitch fest to throw darts at low hanging fruit without really wanting to know or understand the reason and or background of why each situation happened. I can tell you there's a different explanation behind each one and each could be a thread of it's own, especially the port of ND because that one gets pretty twisted.
It's just like the person that says "
I'm involved, I went to a council/board meeting and I really let them have it". Prefect, nothing like being that person that shows up to "A" meeting to rant and rave about some subject that they really don't know anything about and then heads off into the sunset never to be seen or heard from again. Unfortunately, that person doesn't really want to understand the situation or how the decisions were made because in most cases, lots of time, many discussions, and many meetings lead to that decision. Might I add, most of which, nobody really wants to be part of because you'd actually have to put your time and money where you mouth is.
I have no issues with holding our elected officials accountable as they should be. If you think they are doing a poor job, you have the right to do so and the opportunity to vote them out during the election cycle. You also can go to every meeting and be an involved participant and can have the opportunity to provided your feedback and discuss the situation with those officials. Every meeting is a open to the public. Heck, Minot even broadcast theirs if you really want to be in the know and can't make the meetings (they can be found on youtube via links from the City's website). I don't necessarily agree with all of the decisions, but at least I understand and can respect how decision makers arrived where they did without going on a pointless rant.
The biggest thing I wish people would think about and take away, it's not a handful of elected that make up a City, it's all the people that live, work, play, run businesses, and are willing to volunteer there time, effort, and money that make up a City. So, if your living somewhere that you feel is going in the wrong direction, I challenge you to be part of the solution. Get on a board, run for council, be involved, start a business, and try to provided some shred of value to your community. If your not providing value, then your just there to exist and I don't think that gives you the right to complain.
I'm proud to call Minot my home, there are a lot of good things in the community. Yes, we have our problems and when I talk to people from other communities you quickly realize the grass isn't always greener. There are a lot of really great people in Minot and I see many younger people taking an interest and trying to do things in the community to make it better. Things like the Magic City Discovery Center, The Minot Symphony Orchestra & Choir Chorale, an active Y's Mens group, Friends of the Souris River, some active fishing & hunting groups, and several active service groups like the Sertoma & Optimist clubs and Souris Valley United Way group. There's countless others working, opening & running business, and volunteering which all make Minot a better place. And FYI, I'm proud of our Zoo, it's far and away the best in the State! Although, I can't say I go to the zoo all that often, just like a lot of other things in the community, I certainly respect and think they add value to the City that I call home.
And since this is an outdoor site, it's quite arguable that some of the best hunting and fishing opportunities are within an arms reach in any direction from Minot. Whether you want to fish the river, the big lake, devils lake, darling, Grano, Audubon, or any of the other pot holes, they can all be done withing a short drive. For hunting, be it waterfoul, upland, furebear, deer, moose, ect; again within an hour or so you can be out of the truck with your boots on the ground and in some of the best areas the state has to offer.
With all that said, I'm out! enjoy your weekend gentlemen!
