I'm impressed that the words of the profits come true, sometimes like Isaiah 700 years later. I went to Minneapolis a couple years ago to see a copy of the Dead Sea scrolls. Thirteen hundred years older than previouse copies and not one word has changed.
When it comes to Jesus records of the secular historians and the Bible agree.
It matters not how good you are, but if you believe in Jesus. It all rides on John 3:16.
There are many types of Lutheran churches. For example the ELCA will give the pope a run for most evil. Like politics the liberal churches today preach earthly things while Churches like Missiuri Synod, Free Lutheran, and Lutheran brotheren hold to the same beliefs as the first century church. To many people have a Hollywood view of Christians? the Bible, and the church.

The only way churches stay afloat is through its members. If a church is beautiful and extravagant that’s great! The members are great donors and probably donating thier ten percent as the Bible says. Donors are the churches only source of income. Some of you are on here acting like church should be held in abandoned buildings. This is crazy. They should absolutely be tax exempt. You’d rather them give to a corrupt government that gives our money to tyrants and our enemies overseas that include Iran and the Ukraine? Insane. But I guess it’s the world we live in.

It gives people a nice warm fuzzy feeling all over to know that if they repent and allow Jesus Christ to become their personal savior the gates of "heaven" will open. (more or less....ect., ect....yada, yada).

Well isn't that special!! (insert SNL's Church Lady voice)
It’s very special indeed;)

So what makes one religion right and one wrong? Or whose century’s old books are the right ones and who has the wrong ones.
The best thing to do is dive into it. Research it. Most atheists I have ever talked to refuse to read even one of the gospels. It’s very strange. I think deep down they believe there is a higher power but don’t wanna give up thier way of life. Not saying this is you, just made me think of a few atheists I have come across. But if one does believe in a higher power wouldn’t you wanna at least look into it? Seems like it could be pretty important if one of these religions were the way. Which I believe one is.

Spent ever Sunday in Sunday school. Every Wednesday at catechism I don’t really know how to spell that. Got to listen to a pastor tell us public school kids bad church kids god. Funny most of them were knocked up before out of high school now he is is jail for child porn. It’s not that I don’t believe in something I don’t believe in the brick and mortar con of the church. It’s a business.

Nope that's OK Kurt, the great part that is most important is that you do believe and the holy father is always there to bring you into the grace of ever lasting life. @Browneye I agree 100 percent

The church will survive this pope just like it has survived many bad popes throughout history, the church is not a building the church is the people of faith in one God, Jesus Christ and the holy spirit which has survived for over 2000 years.

I too actually kinda think there must be a higher being of some sort. I mean "something" had to create everything that's out there. It just couldn't happen on it's own.

I'm far from a bible thumper but I would agree to that.

Organized religion? You can keep that, I want nothing to do with any of it.

I pretend well though..... if I absolutely have to. ;)

I should add, I have nothing against Churches. I can't imagine what shape our country would be like without them. I believe that It's important parents make sure their kids go to Sunday school and attend Church with their kids untill the kids are adults. As far as the Church building itself , I feel Gods presence in all of them but don't have to be near or in a Church to feel that. I get where people have it in their heart to want to build a nice Church for God. Those old Sweeds and Norskies did an awesome job when they built this one. My Mom and her siblings went to this Church growing up. They were dirt poor. I bet it gave them a feeling of gratification walking into that Church and a bit of hope during those tough days.

I think that is the Church Gary Miller did a painting of

It's odd that one would choose such verbiage. I get it, you're trying to make a point. Yet, I am damn confident you would spend the next XX number of years trying to find a faith-based school that has an average, or even one occurrence of this being true for a graduating class of above 10'ish females. Then again, maybe you can find data to support this?

I was just going off life experience for the class of 97 in Watertown Sd. Maybe it’s not the case all over but through life it seems the ones that thump the Bible the most are the worst people when no one is watching.

As for the pastor here is a little reading.

There are some great people that one meets when going to Church and there are some that are front row on Sundays, then stab you in the back the other 6 days.
Such is our World.

I’m exactly there my self. It’s the corruption in all churches that is off putting.

One thing I learned from being in a strict Lutheran church those up front putting the show on were the ones there for the social standing.
This statement is like saying all fisherman keep more than their daily limit, all hunters drive off established trails & leave gates open, etc.
