Because I have spent a lot of hours on a dog town over the last month and a half and there is coyote sign everywhere. Only makes sense to sound like a prey animal that they already expect to be there.

I don't know of any mouth call made specifically for reproducing a prairie dog distress sound, but any adjustable open reed call or diaphragm call would work. It will take some practice to learn how to do that.

I would trap a prairie dog, twist his arm behind it's back like my brothers used to do to me, and record the sound with my iphone - that way I would have the real deal to reference during practice
