Do away with all landowner tags. Landowners do not own the critters. Yes i could receive a gratis tag for multiple species....i choose not to. Carry on "landowner"

Edit: and before anyone jumps my shit, no payments were "ever" issued. Land around farm was not posted. G&F helped with blood meal around bale and silage piles.

Public land is owned by the public therefore as a US citizen I have ownership in all public land and should be able to receive a gratis tag for public land.

Can you expand on the not-so-positive sentiment? Toughest unit to gain access, herd populations, quality, etc??

I have a general question - I don't have many points for Pronghorn (3) nor do I have too many for deer (2) but is ND becoming a gratis-only hunting state? Obviously I'm not as fortunate as Skeeter to just "Go out and buy some land" whenever or wherever I want, so am I out of luck for a long time?

Yeah lets only allow landowners to hunt anymore. That'll help the hunting heritage a ton!

Don't worry he probably owns land then gripes how drs and lawyers buy land for hunting and frive up land prices

97% private land. Less land grass side up every year. Every category of game population trending down (except maybe elk). Yes.

I don't feel North Dakota is going to be a gratis only state but what it will be is a gratis and friends and family state. It will get to the point where most landowners will only let their friends and family hunt along with minimal others I feel. Unfortunately this will force more and more people out of hunting. Currently thats where i'm at with the small amount of land i own. How many people can i truly let use the land before it becomes detrimental. To much pressure isn't sustainable population wise or it pushes them to land where they don't get pressure and ruins the hunting on mine. Everyone wants landowners to open the doors to them but who knows how many people maybe hunting the land or planning on hunting and the landowner is saving it for them to give them the best experience.

That argument has been used out west and shot down as you can go on the land any time. The state holds the animals in trust. It’s like Wyoming where Nr can’t hunt wilderness areas with a guide or resident. It’s been challenged in court and lost every time.

Another reason the gratis tag should be eliminated. The "I raise them and feed them all year so I should get a tag" is no longer relevant as evidenced by the declining numbers!

4A is the worst IMO. I’ve killed over a dozen goats through the years in that unit alone (mostly archery). I don’t even bother trying anymore.

Anyone out there remember Beula Jorgensen in that unit?(I apologize, I’m probably spelling it incorrectly). She was the best old gal in the world! I miss her. Come hungry and prepare to talk for a good while. She’s been gone now for many years.

There used to be a small elk herd south of Pick City. The landowners tolerated the bulls getting tangled into the swing set, eating with the cattle at the feed bunks and knocking over corn. To a point.

There was no money coming from GnF for damages so they decided to take a spike bull in compensation. They spread the meat amongst several and even wrote elk meat on the packages in their deep freezes. Busted.

Their tolerance went to zero and GnF had to capture and relocate the elk.

The people who came up with the gratis tag idea waaaay back when..........knew.
