About 3 years ago I decided to built a 32x40 pole barn type storage shed with 16" side walls so I could get the camper in. 12x14 door and a 14x10 door for pontoon. Built in town and holds a couple of vehicles along with other toys.
Went to a one man contractor who said $8,000. Went to a couple of lumber yards and asked what a laminated pole cost (112 for 28', 2x6, prebuilt rafters (1675) ect and got a bid totaling of $14252 with tax, 1,300 for dirt work. No insulation, no electric, pea rock floor but it service it purpose for me.
Guy who built did give me a sketch of building and I assume it is what I used to get permit.
Permit granted but no engineer so I assume it all depends on the people running the town as to what they want.
Person living next to me got a permit for a small storage building that he put next to my property with 12' side walls, Code call for 5' from property line and he told me it would be. Well built less than 3' from the line and I guess that is just fine Then I built a 12x8 storage shed and a bigger deck in the back yard and never did get a permit for either (so sometimes keep a bitch to oneself). And the beat goes on. db
