Wow, what a weather event that was for the last WEEK! Just what the Dr. ordered around here. After 3 rounds of significant rain from a system that just kept spinning across 5 states and Canada, we got just over 9 inches of rain in the Yates area. Dams are looking good, creeks are running, and the slow nature of the event let the prairie soak and soak.

We got piss pounded here in cavalier on Thursday, i dont know the totals but the ditches had standing water in them when i left work at 6 and by the morning it was all gone. Its dry here sump pumps haven't even went off all summer. Farmers wont like it since they are digging potatoes right now.

Not much South of Devils Lake ? Are the small grains mostly harvested ? There was a lot of wheat standing last time I was out and about and hasn't been many days of good combining weather. Some crops were lodged from wind and some hailed out.

Just got another 1.4 of rain heard there was a tornado just east of my house but haven’t heard of any damage. With three inches yesterday this morning wouldn’t have even knew it rained.

...A TORNADO WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 215 PM CDT FOR
SOUTHEASTERN SIOUX AND SOUTHWESTERN EMMONS COUNTIES...

At 202 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
was located 9 miles east of Fort Yates, or 15 miles southwest of
Linton, moving north at 25 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage
to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is
likely.

Locations impacted include...
Cattail Recreation Area and Beaver Bay Recreation Area.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest
floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a
mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter
and protect yourself from flying debris.
