We received notice as well that our home has increased in value by 78k. We live in a relatively small home south of Bis on the river. I predict / hope that another, better written, initiative measure will re-surface that provides property tax relief for primary residence of ND residents. We continue to watch our legislature and commerce department provide 100's of millions in the name of corporate welfare to friends and cronies and offers little in the way of meaningful property tax relief.
I bet this would get passed

You could get offered a 50% raise at work, increased vacation, 4 day work week and if our Rhino's told you that you will end up homeless and unhappy......majority of ND residents would decline the offer. Sheep are controlled easily.

Not on the home. Ag land is taxed at 5% of the value. So a quarter worth 90k has a taxable value of 4500. Meaning they pay about $600 / year tax on it.

Question. Do farmers pay property taxes? Maybe this has been covered. I don’t care enough to read.
Yes, or at least I pay property tax on the farmland I own as I'm sure all the other landowners do as well. They don't necessarily pay property tax on their homes or other buildings. Just received noticed that my property value will increase about 13% next year. In my case I snesed that the county had fallen behind on property value. Now it's catch up time. The state does have requirements on property value being kept at a certain percentage of actual value. whether all of that is fair and equitable is often debated.

What everyone needs to realize is that property taxes are based on UNREALIZED gains. It's all made up numbers. It's taxing you on money you have NEVER had in your pocket. Property taxes should be based on what you paid for your home and not one cent more and never increase or decrease until you sell it IMO. That is the true value of property. Increasing your property value and then taxing you on it has to be the biggest scam ever and people just roll over for it. People should also only be able to borrow against what they bought property for and not this inflated value, but you can't fight greed I guess. Carry On!
