Ha. Neg rep on this.

Here you go bad rep'r.

Oh good grief. I got your back.

People really are fun haters these days. Can't even talk about guns without putting someone panties in a knot.

A Remington 700 in .30-06 is the first and only centerfire rifle I own. It works for me, although I honestly have nothing to compare it to.

Apparently I'm a liberal because I pointed out that there have been trigger recalls on certain versions. Hell, I shot my dad's rem 700 25-06 until I won my tikka. Some peoples kids.

No 308 for this guy, but the model 700......yes please. They are the only centerfire actions I own. I've yet to own one that hasn't shot. I would steer you toward the cheapest stainless model (your choice between BDL and ADL), restock, retrigger and you'll have yourself a sexy shooter.

Dirty, I've had a few slam fires. None of those came from non-modified triggers. I measure trigger pulls in ounces though, not pounds.

I suppose I left bedding out. I must confess that most of mine have not been bedded. Waiting for SDMF to show me the ropes.........

So the slam fire came from a modified trigger that has a very light pull? I'm not too educated on what the exact issue has been with the recalled rifles, but from a quick scan it was mainly the stock trigger. I know rem 700's are great rifles and I wouldn't hesitate to take one off the shelf.

just watched a video on glass bedding. I'd mess that up with little to no effort.

Pish-Posh. If one were looking for the holy grail of accurate/sexy factory 700's it'd be a 40x.

The trigger issue is 100% complete B.S. Every pre-X-mark Pro 700 factory trigger came with "sealer" on the adjustment screw holes. Basically it was clear nail polish. Every one of those "slam-fire" court cases should've gone like this:

Rem Defense Atty: "Has the sealer been removed from the factory trigger poundage, overtravel, and/or sear engagement adjustment screws?"

Plaintiff/Expert Witness/Gunsmith: "Yes"

Judge: "Case Dismissed"

Yes. Corrected after incident. It was my fault. The problem occurred on a p-dog town. No life was threatened because for I followed the golden rule: muzzle control. The end.

I'm not arguing with you here, but what's the recall for? People that modified their triggers? And by pure coincidence, the first ad I hear on the radio whilst traveling home is a class action lawsuit against Remington.

Tough to beat the 700, definitely the small block chevy of actions, easy to turn into a race car or shoot it out of the box. All of my rigs are based on a 700 action, the bolt and receiver are pretty much all that's left but they hammer shit image.jpg

I couldn't say for sure. Have you watched the original CNBC exclusive on the triggers?

I pray no one acknowledges/accepts the offer. That's a pretty large solid for this miscreant. Gun owners should not be leaches.

If the muzzle was pointed safely; there would be zero legal problems for concern. Anyone with any experience should know the danger of closing any style bolt on a repeater. A mishap should be sent back to the the factory or smith.

Now this Clyde Lewis eff is on...

First and foremost, the lawsuit is due to folks not following the golden rule of muzzle control. Secondarily, it's primarily caused by folks operating a screwdriver who shouldn't be.

I think I'm going to get some drive thru coffee and stick my foot under a lawnmower.
