i probably wasn’t clear. The people buying in are buying stocks and not positions. The hedge funds holding a position are the ones that are holding their breath praying they don’t run out of margin to ride it out.

I know people are up in arms about these stocks being froze and the general consensus is that it's happening because the "big guy", aka hedge funds, are getting taken to the cleaners by a bunch of individual day traders; But, doesn't strike you that its completely wrong to collude on social media, or otherwise, to negatively or positively effect a share price of a stock artificially and beyond any representation of that particular companies financials, movements, or potential? And people thinks its censorship that the FCC is considering new rules? I'm probably in the minority, but this is ludicrous! If any financial broker did this and was caught, they'd be in jail.

FYI, there's gonna be a bunch of innocent people that get completed screwed on this along with many of these reddit day traders. Frankly, there playing with fire and they're bound to get burned. I put short sellers in the same the category. Don't kid yourself for a minute If you think the only ones that are going to get hit are some rich hedge-fund managers. I think its a disgrace and its just the continual downward spiral of our nation.

Disclaimer, I have no horse in this race but mark my words, gamestop is gonna crash and crash hard! It's not a matter of if, its only a matter of when. The hedge fund folks know this can't go on forever any they have the leverage and bank to play this game. They'll cover there margins, short sell it at the crash and they'll be fine. If you think otherwise your kidding yourself.

If I download Robin Hood and I buy say $50 worth of John Deere stock, there are no margin calls if the value of the John Deere stock goes down correct?

In trading ag futures, you would be subject to a margin call if you purchased a corn future for $4 and it went to $3.50.

I’m just trying to fully understand this before I dabble in it....

Buying on margin is basically you are using your account as collateral to borrow money to fund your JD purchase. If the price drops the brokerage will give you notice to add more funds to your account as the value of the collateral is not adequate. Note that using margin is not required, if you have money, buy it with the money you have.

Me thinks there will be investigations into how Robinhood..and others could lock you(a mere small investor light weight) out of buying some stocks and only allowed you to sell your existing position in said stock...thereby freezing the little guy out and only allowing hedge fund managers to buy said stock.

Thats the whole fricken point!! These hedge funds are shorting companies to destroy them! Using the media and app companies to crash the stock! They can't stand that they are getting played at their own game! And I think your missing the larger intention of the reddit boys here. Some want to make some coin, sure, but the overall momentum of this is to FU** the hedge funds and they are doing it. Until robinhood colluded (what you jsut said) with its hedge fund buddies to freeze the stock so they could get out.
