I've known Andrew for alot of years. You're right on with him. I wanted him to do a fish last year, but I think he only does deer. He may take a while, but you will get a great product, and hes a great guy as well.

he's refocusing on taxidermy again - still part-timish but more regular - so don't hesitate to look him up if you get lucky and drop a nice deer guys

I also saw a full bear and lion he was just getting to work on - he's a fearless artist

this is the most communication i have had with rick in a year or more. maybe i should have been more persistent to begin with.

he admits to throwing the bird away, and not wanting to do a 'poor" mount. which is fine but the questions i keep wanting to know is why did it take so long to let us know this, why not call me ASAP and tell me that when he discovered it. either way not sure what course of action were taking but hope the rest of you have better luck, and buyer be ware of rick in the future.

anyhow says he will get my check out in the next week

........or so he says

With all the others just on this forum saying he has had their birds for 2.5 to 5 years there is more to the story than him just not wanting to do a poor mount. Its a part time gig, he likes/wants/needs the extra money, but its obvious he doesn't have the time or drive to do it anymore.

Why would you even keep excepting birds when your 4 years behind? Makes zero sense.

No need to a be a tool to the guy. He's trying to be helpful to others with his experience.

Not sure if thats directed at me, but if so, where was I being a tool toward Jdinny or anyone else on this thread? I was saying it makes zero sense for the taxidermist to keep excepting birds if he is 4+ years behind. Unless he is just trying to take advantage of the client.

I was skimming and confused "excepting" with "expecting". This is a prime example of how shit can get dangerous. I ASSumed a grammatical error with "your".

In essence, I skimmed and fucked up.

He told me once the time it takes to do a goose mount and especially a flying one takes more time and effort than it is worth but I think he has a hard time saying no. He talked me out of mounting two birds over the years because he didn't think they would turn up good. Maybe his freezer did go out and they spoiled but I guess he decided not to use a good excuse !

im in the same boat as tymurrey, am i happy NO. i absolutely pissed, at the professionalism and lack of communication and will never bring a bird or recommend Rick again. im also pissed at myself for not pushing the issue more early on. i guess i was naive into thinking he would get it done since hes done ( off the top of my head) 6-7 birds for my family.

like ty said im not a huge guy of blasting people on public forums but at this point it needs to be done.

Wags-- i think i misunderstood your questions, trip mecneelys avatar is done by nevada. looks excellent in person. i will post a pic when the wifes is done.

trip--yep andrew started awhile ago, beleive he does it out of Tappen ND but someone correct me if i am wrong

Trip-Same Andrew Faul. He's been doing it for a few years now, and I believe that jdinny is right, last I heard he was still in Tappen.
