yep darn good idea lets let the people regulate huntin n fishin by lettin our nd congressmen make laws n hopefully this opens the door fer the congressman to make all the regs so we can finally have farmers get tags only the ballot box biology is workin great in colorado n oregon unless you hate wolves n like elk i suppose

Looks like the old 'can't ban baiting on private land' bill. I'm sure this will devolve into the usual dumpster fire thread, but can't say I'm a big fan of this one. Not a big fan of legislatures determining wildlife management - why not pass laws that you can shoot as many deer or birds as you want on your own land too?

well yeah thats idea eventuly but this is the legal way to crak the door open game n fish needs to be brought down a peg n let landowners have their way then all the deer farmers n outfitters can work with farmers to let the common man hunt

Actually it’s not uo to agencies to create laws. Somehow, someway we’ve let government agencies across all spectrums run the show. Only lawmakers can make laws. And when an agency starts to drift away from the will of the people it’s up to lawmakers to rein them in. Do you think the EPA should be creating laws?

Thats exactly why we elect a congress in ND. To make laws. State agencies arent’ meant to create “law”

Very very few farmers or landowners i know want to lease their land to other to hunt. Most actually hate all the NRs that come here, especially waterfowl. Most want to keep ND quiet and enjoy their own land the way they want to. I’d be more worried about the rich guy from Texas buying up all the land in central ND, or guys like him.

In 2009 the people through Representation told the NDGF they have no authority over feeding. People can feed wildlife anytime anywhere on private property.

This isn't a baiting Bill. The NDGF is restricting method of take. It's a hunting restriction.

That sounds like baiting.

You can “bait” or supplementally feed wildlife as much or anytime and throughout the state. The restrictions set forth now limit hunting or means of take. This isn’t a baiting bill. It’s a bill to undo restriction on hunting that science doesn’t support. In the context of cwd it’s purely illogical. There is zero evidence of cwd being spread by bait piles. It is simply a “best management practice” idea being pushed down by AFWA and if one uses simple logic it makes zero sense to ban hunting over it unless you’re objective is control. Start digging deeper boys and you’ll see a pretty knarly scheme in the works. Anyone know who John Tester is? The democrat lawmaker who championed “sportsmen for Obama”? Yep the same John Tester who’s also tied in the the Backcountry hunters and anglers………. Wonder why they want to be involved? Wouldn’t a sportsman group want more animals not less and to work on better access for hunters? Less deer=less access in ND. It’s really that simple. For once landowner/farmers and sportsman are standing together and wanting more deer and better management because the numbers say NDGNF has done a terrible job managing the herd. what will happen next you ask? Look at what’s happening in Missouri and Texas right now. They are using sharpshooters to slaughter deer…. Not just a couple here and there…. A lot of deer….. rumor has it they are using corn to bait them in! All of this for a “disease” that has killed one(suspicious) deer in a half a century in ND. It’s completely illogical and they are counting on you all to be misinformed and not start peeling the layers back. I challenge anyone who knows little to start diving into it.

Almost........Montana Sportsmen for Obama was chaired by Land Tawney. MT Sen. (D) Jon Tester had an advisory panel for wildlife conservation. Land Tawney and Ryan Busse served on it. When Tester became Senatorial Sportsmen Caucus leader, he brought these two with him to Washington DC and they now serve on Biden's Hunting and Wildlife Conservation Council:

Ryan Busse was Chair of Backcountry Hunters and Anglers 2016-2020. He just ran for Governor of Montana and lost. Ryan currently has two sons involved in a lawsuit suing the State of Montana to use less fossil fuels.

Land Tawney was Chair of Backcountry Hunters and Anglers 2020-2023.

Incidentally, Land Tawney is going to be in Bismarck tomorrow evening.

Meh. BHA’s positions on hunting and fishing usually align with mine. It’s not always a democrat/republican thing and if that’s how you make your decisions I feel bad for you. If I only supported groups I 100% aligned with, I wouldn’t support any. I don’t want game management based on popular vote or we’ll end up with bleeding hearts challenging everything we do.

Well considering the state of our country at the moment I think it’s fair to surmise many things democrats touch go up in flames. Large scale money pumping game management is no different. If this cwd thing proceeds further who do you think calls the shots? You think our own game and fish are? Or does the federal government and the AFWA get to run the show? I’ll give you a hint…. Anytime federal monies are involved big daddy is making sure you do what he says…. No thanks. I’d rather the people living and working the land have a say. How would a guy like land tawney know how what the herd in sykeston or pembina need? It’s all a pony show. Follow the money and start digging into it.
