Looking at getting a side by side. Question I have for you guys is when looking for a used one how many miles is too many miles? Seen one that is a 2012 Polaris and has 3800 miles on it for a decent price. Is that too many? I know nothing on how long these run or what to even look for. Thanks for the help!

I have 700 hours on a 2006 Ranger 700xp and that bitch is tired but still gets the job done, 5000 miles on an '09 Rzr and it's just as strong as it ever was. Not sure about mileage limits I'd be more concerned about who had it and what did they use it for. There's a few ranchers around that trade them every other year and I wouldn't buy a lawnmower from them seeing how hard they are on things, a good steam clean is all it takes to fool a lot of people. Those gear boxes are tiny, add tracks and 7400rpms for half of it's life and it's anyones guess. Be leery, lots of junk out there as I've been looking for a newer one as well.

Picked up this 1947 lake 2015 143.jpg "side by side" for less than half the cost of one of those new "side by sides"... 5800 miles and runs great. Power steering would be nice though. But, if you're looking for the new kind, guess I cant help you much there but what USMCDI said above is good advice.

I have around 5800 on mine, runs as good as it ever has, but I am very gentle with my stuff. Never in a huge hurry, nor do I do any crazy activities with it.
Use it around the camp ground, on the ice, and to run my dog occasionally.

Totally agree with who owned it, how it was driven, and how it was serviced.
I know of 3 Rangers with over 10,000 miles on them and all they have done is change oil, filters, spark plugs, and each one put a new belt on around 7,000 miles. I have seen some with only a little over 1,000 miles and they were trashed out. Have a couple rancher buddies and theirs are traded off after 2,000 miles at the most. They buy them to use as to them it is just a piece of machinery.
Talk with people as you might find one that a friend of a friend has that has been taken care of.

On a 900xp at 10k miles expect to fix a few things like the fuel pump and voltage regulator. May need new shocks and new bushings in the suspension also. I wouldn't worry to much about the engine if its been taken care of. Change the belt or at least check it if its still the original. I've got a 2014 900xp with 11k miles still on the same belt but I plan to change it before it leaves me sitting somewhere.
