temps are moderate during the day 20's sub zero at night, hang in the trees skiing ,no wind and good depth perception otherwise you get virdigo not knowing which way is up.

If there was a premier ski hill here that much snow would be welcome....I enjoyed my time in Breck

still dumping in breck,100"s so far in the last 10 days, one would think all the moisture along the west coast would've wrung out by now.

all the years I spent in western ski resorts I have never seen one shut down due to to much snow, last week abasin and keystone closed i wonder if california ski resorts shut down? gotta be tough getting to ski area.some resorts where skier drives up a canyon to ski area, cops set up check points driver needs snow tires, chains or 4x4 to continue up the canyon this is common in utah where ski areas such as Alta and snowbird is a 10mile drive from salt lake up a canyon to ski area, avalanches are frequent and usually take out the only road to and from said ski areas.

Avalanch control is done with various tools like a recoiless riflt or in jackson hole they use a 55 howitzer at mid moutain to shoot the cliffs after a heavy snow, also they use hand charges if patrol has access along mtn peaks dynamite with a long fuse when I tagged along.if said chutes did'nt slide we jumped in,no tracks from other skiers just untracked POW,best run of the day usually.

ps~ i'vw seen pic's of squaw valley where they cut trils in the deep snow just so the chair lifts can function
