How would the community like to deal with swearing? For some, it is becoming a bit excessive.

Vote in poll, and express opinions below.

Thanks

My personal opinion:

It doesn't bother me personally. I know it is not liked by some. I also know, that it is completely doable to get any message across without the swearing.

Let the community speak. This is up to you.

I am guilty of it myself on occasion, the f bomb is unnecessary, but doesn't offend me to the least.
a wise old doctor once told me it was bully talk, and made me sound like a less educated guy than him, even more than not having Dr. in front of my name...haha

Is it cool if I still use the word booger?

I was about to post something about this. The poopy word doesn't bug me much - but the f-bomb is in the wince category. It's just so senselessly coarse.

2 warnings is too few (;:;boozer???) , but if it's been 5-6 times that tells you it's not registering.

Any way to have web software replace it with underscores or something? I noticed that when I want to yell with all caps the system changes the characters to small case for me.

p.s. I use the f-bomb more than occasionally in the real world and when I do I'm a jacka$$ for doing it.

Did me some swearing this morning while pulling the wife out of the ditch. I won't repeat cuz I don't think swearing is necessary on a website.

Meh. Doesn't bother me. Sometimes need a cuss word or two to drive the point home. Don't like that I can't type in all caps or use strikethrough text though without the system changing it.

Being a retired Marine and combat vet I've got pretty thick skin, Ralph Peters is my hero even though he was in the Army. Ain't Ready for the Marines Yet.

Doesn't bother me at all but I don't think it is necessary either. Do these count as swearing? F*%$, S#@T, C^%K, Beotch and on and on and on?

I really don’t believe in swearing unless there is a god damn good reason…such as inflicting unnecessary personal injury, such as bludgeoning ones thumb with a hammer instead of the nail…or puncture a #5 shad rap deeply into the soft tissue of one’s hand…outside of that it really reverberates unintelligence

So...whats the limit on swearing in a post? 1? 2? 10? I understand if you gotta say 5 swear words in a sentence is telling me you have a very very bad day or your mamma didn't use enough soap on you as a kid. ( Refer to Ralphie in Christmas story)

I know some people personally that gotta say the f-bomb EVERY other word they say, thats whats annoying I don't know much about coding, but there's a way to censors it like #$$%^ when it shows on the post...like yahoo does

I am on several other forums and another as a mod and there are some settings that automatically ***** out preset words that are detected when one posts.

As long as there is consistent regulation of infractions, we don't want to cause favorable conditions for popular members like what was done on the other site.

I voted to let it go however I like tv rules. Nowadays they let a lot go on regular cable. I hear the alternatives to feces, sphincter, and urine fairly regularly and I don't watch much in the first place. The mother of all dirty words(according to the Christmas story), see you next Tuesday, oral insertion, and maternal relations ones just make us Neanderthals.
