a disgruntled daughter-in-law could turn a kid against someone fairly easily... not saying that is what happened, but its not impossible
Or ex-wife, about 20 yrs ago my youngest Son was 6 or 7 yrs old. I was at my Daughter's place and my 3 boys were there. Now there 8 or 10 people that are shooting the Nerf guns with the darts that have rubber suction ends. My youngest Son run by and he pulled his shorts down and a dart sticks to his ass. He pulls it off and there is a red dot on his ass cheek. All of this is recorded and put on MySpace back then. Fast forward two weeks and I get a knock on the door. It's the Sheriff and Social Service lady and they want to talk. They show me the video and she says that's child abuse. So I went upstairs and got a dart. I pushed on to my forearm and when I pulled it off there was a round red spot. I told her it's not impact that makes the mark it's from the suction. They left and she said this is still a open investigation. My ex-wife knew it wasn't abuse she just want to stir up some shit.

Im glad I was able to stay mostly amiable with my ex's. its not always easy, because... women, but its worth putting in the effort.

I know a guy who's ex girlfriend did that very thing. They wanted him to plead guilty but he refused and maintained his innocence. He took it through the court process and was found not guilty as it was shown the ex girlfriend and the social worker basically put words in the girls mouth. ND Courts still show that he was charged with GSI but was found not guilty

The Social worker should have lost her job. And the Ex girlfriend should be sued for slander.

At an ABSOLUTE minimum. Personally, I think they should face jail time for witness tampering and/or conspiring to put an innocent man in prison.

I usually can find something funny or humorous in most situations, but have zero sense of humor about this stuff. Attempting to ruin someone else's life should have serious consequences.

Judge rejects plea deal

https://www.kfyrtv.com/2026/03/04/judge-rejects-steinwands-plea-deal/

The plea deal in the case of former North Dakota Game and Fish Director Terry Steinwand HAS BEEN REJECTED BY THE JUDGE!
Steinwand is facing AA felony charge of gross sexual imposition of a child under the age of 15.
The max senence for this charge is life in prison.
The minimum sentence for this charge is 20 years.
PLEA DEAL THAT WAS ON THE TABLE:
Prosecutors offered to downgraded the felony charge to a sexual misdemeanor.
This would have resulted in giving Steinwand two years of supervised probation and no contact with the victim.
Prosecuters said they wanted to avoid trial for the young child in this case.
JUDGES RULING:
The judge rejected that agreement.
Said the proposed sentence wasn’t enough time for Steinwand to complete sex offender treatment.

"Court documents indicate police received a report from a therapist of Steinwand touching a child under the age of 15 inappropriately and forcing the child to touch him inappropriately."

This part caught my attention, because I didn't know there was/is a prescribed amount of time one needs to go through sex offender treatment.

Honestly, I have pretty much always considered sex offenders as unfixable. Anyone know what length of counseling the courts generally consider the convict rehabilitated?

Unbelievable they were going to let a AA felony off with 2 years probation?! I know the judge. She was an attorney here before getting divorced and moving to Bismarck. She saw through the bullshit. GOOD FOR HER!!
Sometimes they do not consider offenders rehabilitated and release them from prison anyway because their time is up and they have met all requirements for release. It is why they classify them High, Moderate and Low Risk to re-offend.
Check your area out by county:

MANDAN, N.D. (KVRR) — A Morton County judge rejects a plea deal for former Game & Fish director Terry Steinwand.

He is charged with one felony count of gross sexual imposition with a victim under 15.

The criminal complaint says a five-year-old girl told a counselor that Steinwand touched her inappropriately on multiple occasions, both over and under her clothes.

During an interview with Mandan police, Steinwand admitted to touching the girl in what he described as a tickling motion and used it to calm her down.

He was arrested last September.

Two weeks ago, a change of plea hearing was canceled and Judge Marina Spahr ordered Steinwand to undergo a psychological evaluation and come back in two weeks.

Wednesday, she rejected his latest plea deal and ordered a trial to begin on April 28.

Steinwand was appointed North Dakota Game & Fish director in 2006 and retired in 2021 after spending 40 years with the department.

Well I hope the girl isn't making it up. Not that she is, but this guy regardless of what the trail brings is completely screwed at this point. If she is telling the truth, which is likely, then I hope he never sees the daylight except through prison bars for life.

I would think a couple of minutes with a sharp (or dull) knife would be all the rehabilitation needed.
