With Christmas right around the corner iv'e been on the lookout for board games/toys or contests to pass away the evenings and hopefully hone some skills and wits at the same time. Wondering if your kids or grands, ages 4 -11 have any favorites.

My personal favorite game for the youngsters was "Find the Socks". How it works is, first you wash all your socks the day before the kiddos arrive and keep them in the basket. Then you dump the socks out on the floor and tell the kiddos, whomever finds and folds the most pairs of socks in 3 minutes wins. Easiest laundry day EVER!!!! You might try to get them to find and fold towels as well, but they usually catch on after the sock deal. Have Fun!! As to the OP, Jenga was always a good time for the youngins. It makes'em think a bit as well as help hand eye coordination.

Thank you guys for the responses so far, keep them coming , the more the merrier. Will send a list of board games to our kids and make sure we don't buy something that they already have, unreal that some board games are over 50 bucks. Going to buy some boobie prizes and teach them how to win stuff pitching pennies too, That was a favorite pastime when I was that age. Thanks again and keep them coming.

Sequence there is an adult and a kids version. We have enjoyed playing that as a family at holiday gatherings.

"The Chameleon" is a fantastic game for families. Rounds are short, filled with laughter and suspense, and create real memories. We started bringing it camping and it's become a fast favorite! Probably for families with kids a little older than you listed Davey....just wanted to share with the rest of the crowd.

The gist is that one person is "the chameleon" and the rest aren't. It's up to the group to figure out who's lying and call them out before the chameleon "escapes".

Come to think of it, it's a little like reading some of the posts here on NDA ;)

Telestrations can be pretty entertaining. May have to be a little older to enjoy it...some reading.

Basically like the telephone game with drawings. One person sees a word and draws it, next person guesses what they drew and writes it down, next person draws what the 3rd person wrote down...passes 5 times, I think.

We don't even keep score, just laugh at how far off track things get.
