I would guess that like most things in life, it simply got outdated. This was in an era of significant emissions updates to keep the EPA happy.

They were fun to drive though.

The sho was ahead of its time as far as emissions were concerned, one would think if thst was the case you could possibly make it better.

Just think if ford put a sho in a foxbody mustang or a ford light with a supercharger. The guy in the article said that the transmission couldn't handle the torque

Ford did not make this engine..yamaha did. It was a very very good engine! Well designef and HP per liter was very good!

Lincoln cars have been the most reliable of any vehicle I've ever owned. I wish I would have known sooner because they have saved me a lot of $$$ compared to everything else iv'e owned.
