I couldn't give 2 shits either. But, there is no fucking way that fish is 48 inches. No way at all. Besides the fact that there is 0% possibility its 48 inches. If it was, you would see it going on the wall and not sitting on the cleaning table. But, whatever.

If this picture is taken on the ice we are all awwwing over this fish. Since it is taken in the cleaning station we are shaming him and arguing over the length of the fish from a picture. I'm included as I don't believe it is 48.5" but tough to say and I can't prove him wrong.

I don't want to speak for everyone, but I think the shaming has less to do with where the picture was taken and more to do with our cabin fever symptoms flaring up again. The big warm up and subsequent cool down turned us all into a bunch of grouchy assholes. Hence the teeth gnashing at this fish

I think the griping and shaming has to do with the fact that the dude holding the fish looks like a 'Sconi.

Just an fyi...the state record is 45 inches and 40 pounds. Google lafluers 51 inch pike from last spring.
That fish is no where near that. And this ain't cabin fever or judging someone for keeping a big fish. Just saying i think he broke the law, didnt realize it, got called on it and claimed 48.5 inches later. And i still don't really judge the guy. Cause i think 95% of us probably had no idea there is a minimum length requirement. But, i am just telling it how i see it. Nice fish. But, i just dont think its close to 48.5 inches.

Pics can be deceiving and congrats on a nice fish, hopefully it measured out to be legal fish.. I will say thought its rare to see a hybrid measure at 48", the girth and size of the fish's head should be much larger as well.. I've held numerous 40-52" muskies in my day and I would honestly put that fish (based on his pic) at about 40" max.

I really don't care. It's a gator without nuts. Dude probably made a mistake and tried covering his tracks. At least he wasn't standing next to 5 times his daily limit.

Well obviously, he's in the cleaning shack with a few fish. To do the above he'd have to stand next to his truck, where all the rest of the fish are packed in the wheel wells and under the back seat.

Okay,I had to check it out, mean dean called me on growth rate, and he was "rriiiiii....rrriiiiiiiggggg.....right,damn that was hard, but coming from a walleye guy what do ya expect? Well,Mn lakes must be much colder, hence the state record@ 33lbs or so.

Because tiger muskies are bred for stocking purposes, studies have been made of its growth rate and the factors that affect it. The growth rate of juveniles depends on the water temperature and the type of feed. In studies, the tiger muskie has had the highest growth, production, and food conversion efficiency at temperatures of 68–75°F (20–24°C). Below these temperatures, growth rates slow and above them cannibalism increases.[SUP][5][/SUP]

Here you go detectives. I put it in Photoshop... isolated the fish and rotated it (did not change the zoom). I also drew 3 lines following the curve of the back. Remember, the fish has a couple curves in its back from him holding it horizontal.

When I add together the 3 lines, that is probably a better measurement of the length. Now, remember he is holding it out in front... not Ahabbing it, but it does add some size in the comparison.

I am not a fan of Sconi's, but I think it is bigger than people think... what do you think?

If they are northerns he hopefully had them packed like cord wood behind his seat and in the pick up. If there was no limit it would not effect them one bit they are the coyotes of the fish world no mater what you do they are still around

I would have kept it and mounted it even if it was 44" cause I would have not known the law. And I probably would have posted a pic on here and got blasted.

But law is law and ignorance is not an excuse I guess. At least I know now for when I do catch my next 47" tiger musky.

I don't know, that picture on the cleaning table looks like a pretty big fish. The tail angle on the standing picture can make it look a lot different.

Here's a picture of a 49.5 with the tail angled back, and it makes it look a lot shorter.

And here's a pic of a 40 inch northern....that musky looks a lot bigger than this.
