North Dakota’s homeland security director ordered the removal of state-owned trailers and water tanks from the Dakota Access Pipeline protest campsite Monday, citing mounting reports of unlawful activity -- the latest involving lasers -- and the risk of damage.

“Based on the scenario down there, we don’t believe that equipment is secure,” Homeland Security Division Director Greg Wilz said.

As tribal members from across the nation streamed into the campsite, swelling its population to between 500 to 4,000 people depending on estimates, the loss of their main drinking water supply came as a blow and sent local officials scrambling to find an alternative water source.

Nothing like a taxpayer supported protest.

A few other random thoughts:

I do hope that we get some pictures in the media of the mess left behind at the campsite.

If you care so much about the health of your people, why is there smoking in your casino?

The road block reminds me of the Chris Christie bridge fiasco. Lets F-over the little guy just trying to live his life and do his thing like get to work, take a motorcycle ride, fish, hunt, camp, or use the gun range.

Is it corp. I believe it privately owned at least a poration of it. Failure of nd st gov and Morton co to let it get this big. 35w had more protestors same date and they removed them forcibly. Now we have to spend my tax dollars to send cass co to try to play cleanup.
Absolutely no doubt the camps are on corp ground and the state has contacted the corp about it but they wont do shit. They were nice enough to admit they have no authority to remove people from their ground which I will definitely keep in mind next time i have a run-in with them. The non peaceful camp could be the original camp and if so is further east and possibly on private ground.

Here is the setup this is the "peaceful" camp and supposedly there is a camp for the non peaceful people just south of this one across the cannonball.

Here are the camp sites with red being the camp showen above and the yellow the likely area of camp two.

And here is the corp boundary

Time to call in the National Guard and end this shit.
Tired of PC, and worry of offended the masses. If they are using intimidation, disrupting traffic, littering, stealing, blocking public property, costing tax payers millions more besides the billions we already give these "proud" people, then it is no longer a peaceful protest, it is an angry dangerous mob, that needs to be dealt with accordingly.

Once again the minority rules.

Thanks obama

The problem with calling in the NG is that these natives are also sending people to the homes of the law enforcement (take photos, require identification in official capacity), so if the same thing happens with the NG force I believe Governor Jack doesn't want local troops called up to only have other retribution take place afterward. He might prefer to call in an MP unit, but there's only one unit in ND with 150 troops. Need a much larger force to do that, so Dalrymple would then have to go to Minnesota NG to get the support. Well, I don't need to remind you about the democratic/progressive state that Minnesota is, right? How far away does one go to get 1,000 military police National Guard unit?

I don't get it, they had their chance to oppose the project during the public hearing sessions - These people are a little late to the show.. The project has been approved and permit issued, too late. sorry to say this protesting will do very little to reverse the project..

From my understanding the pipeline doesn't touch the rez or as they are calling it 'Tribal lands" but every single news report and story I see says it is on "Tribal lands".
Is it or is it not on the rez or tribal land?

Now it makes sense, as any rez I have had the misfortune of driving through almost looks 3rd world. Not a lot of mother earth concerns as I can see.

By the way, I am not anti Indian, I am anti reservation and the terrible lives these unnecessary reservations create.

The group on the south end side of Cball river is the Rosebud tribe. Not sure why, or how they are being labeled as "non peaceful" side? They have kicked out those they found with booze, so I've heard. With all the prayer and ceremonies taking place, the traditionalists are adamant about respecting that. SR is now just seen as hosts of all the nations. They are looking at it as a historical gathering. The first time since the battle of greasy grass that the seven council fire will meet. All I hear around here is how positive the camps are. A lot of non natives there as well. They invite people to come and check it out.

So not surprisingly the local media are falsely reporting the facts.:;:deadhorse

Oh im going to go out on a limb here and say it probably has something to do with the fact that that is what the protesters are calling it. And now you say its rosebuds crew....well that shit then places it firmly in the no duh category!

Factions develop

Dalrymple said that while the majority of protesters were peaceful, there’s an element of “outside agitators” responsible for vandalism, trespassing on private property and blocking the highway – “hundreds of criminal acts.”

Threats also have been made against law enforcement on social media, Kirchmeier noted.

Leingang dismissed claims of unlawful activity at the campsite as rumor and said “nothing bad is happening here.”

Still, protesters acknowledged the camp has split into two factions.

“You have the pacifists and then you have the people who feel something should be done, and they’re camped across the river from each other,” said Jesse Stevens, 32, a member of Wisconsin’s Menominee and Oneida tribes.

Stevens and two other men from Keshena, Wis., left Friday evening and arrived Sunday night, delayed by a broken water pump on his GMC Jimmy. While they set up camp on the “peaceful” side, Stevens said he felt like he should be across the river.

“My point in coming out here was some kind of action, regardless of whether it’s life-threatening or not,” he said. “This is our land, our people

Unfortunately we are all living a reservation like lifestyle now. Watch the Russell Means documentary "Welcome to the reservation" and it will make more sense. He makes excellent comparisons on how the governments experiments with the creation of the American indian reservations have been slowly incorporated into main stream society without us even noticing it.
