The q remains why cross where the river is wider vs narrower. Common sense would pu t that line above bismarck. I would hate to be an investor
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers evaluated the Bismarck route and concluded it was not a viable option for many reasons. One reason mentioned in the agency’s environmental assessment is the proximity to wellhead source water protection areas that are avoided to protect municipal water supply wells.

In addition, the Bismarck route would have been 11 miles longer with more road crossings and waterbody and wetland crossings. It also would have been difficult to stay 500 or more feet away from homes, as required by the North Dakota Public Service Commission, the corps states.

The Bismarck route also would have crossed an area considered by federal pipeline regulators as a “high consequence area,” which is an area determined to have the most significant adverse consequences in the event of a pipeline spill.

Nd doesn't have enough people to be concerned about vs the population of the other states relative to where the line would go in the other states. We would have water issues in the east if keystone 1 would bust. Bunch of pansies both bismarck and the res imo and then to top it off a governor that doesn't know what to do about it

TIOGA, N.D. — An unidentified Dakota Access Pipeline worker near Tioga was found slumped over his tractor on Thursday with serious head trauma. He was later pronounced dead at Trinity Hospital in Minot.

TheNorthDakotaPublic Service Commission was notified Friday by Energy Transfer Partners that a worker had serious head wounds.
“It’s not uncommon that we get notified if someone has been injured on a job site,” said Brian Kalk, PSC commissioner. “It is uncommon where someone is seriously injured like someone was here.”
Kalk said the PSC requires companies to notify them within five days if an accident has occurred on a project.

Energy Transfer Partners has also notified the Occupational Safety and Health A d m i n i s t r a t i o n , according to Kalk.
The man — whose name has yet to be released — was working as a subcontractor for Energy Transfer Partners, driving a tractor filling in the pipeline with soil and grass seed.
Kalk said the company is relatively certain that the man’s death was an accident and he was working alone at the scene of the accident.
“One of the bigs that we’ve put together is that the individual was working by himself so they weren’t working in pairs,” he said. “So when the accident happened, who knows how long it was from when he got injured until the foreman found him.”

More information is expected to be released at the beginning of the week.

I wouldn't jump to any conclusions quite yet.

What a crazy deal , I sure hope an investigation leaves no questions about it one way or the other.

Mandan, N.D. - A protestor attached himself to a piece of heavy machinery in an attempt to halt production of the Dakota Access pipeline south of Mandan.
Police say they've made two arrests Wednesday morning for disorderly conduct and trespassing; and the man that other protesters call "Happy" that attached himself to a backhoe will be the third.
Police and firefighters are working to bring "Happy" off the piece of equipment.................................... I don't see a problem, just keep digging with him hanging on! ;:;rofl If he falls off just cover him up.

I happen to log into facebook and see a live feed from this. Just listening to the protesters for a couple minutes makes you realize how ridiculous they are. The two women that were talking near the camera person could not say 5 words without swearing. Chances are not one person out there knows anything about pipelines, how they are installed, how they are monitored, or safety precautions with them. I would be willing to bet that they also have no idea how many existing pipelines there are under the river already, some of which I believe are not to far from this location, and none that I know of have "blown up" like they seem to think is guaranteed to happen. Working in a water treatment industry I understand how detrimental a major leak could be, but I also know that pipelines under rivers are nothing new and there are thousands of them that have never had an issue. I have to admit I may be missing something since the only places I've followed this story are here and via facebook. If you need a good laugh I suggest just finding a story on this on facebook and reading the comments. Its amazing how unintelligent some people out there are.

Ding Ding Ding winner winner chicken dinner.!!!! Sad part is if you make statements like this, they're labeling you as a racist.

ya. the live facebook feed is a real piece of news work

I also noticed it looks like just about everyone is taking a video, most likely hoping to catch an officer saying something, or do something they shouldn't. I'm all for respectful, LEGITIMATE protesting, but in this case it has gone beyond that. They way some of the protesters yell at the officials it just seems like they are trying to bait someone into a lawsuit.
