I have a weird fascination with curling

Every time I see them guys whacking the crap outta the ice with them broom like things making that goofy slapping sound I can't NOT laugh. If they had some bikini clad ladies running them brooms, I might watch curling more.

Mostly Biathlon and hockey. Hoff from UND is playing for Norway and there is a Morehead kid playing for team USA.

Curling! Hands down. Probably the only sport in the Olympics( that my brain can think of at the moment) where the players are mic'd. This simple act probably has done more for the sport of curling, fan interest wise, than anything else. IMHO. Fans enjoy hearing what shot they are thinking of attempting and why. Hands down, it makes the sport more interesting to watch and enjoy.

Top notch announcers for Curling at this year Olympics as well.
Bronze medalist in 2006 for Team USA- skip Pete Fenson of Bemidji
and arguably the greatest Canadian curler of all time- Kevin Martin.

Like them all except for figure skating and plain cross country. Also like having the Canadian stations for even more coverage. They show some sports they don't cover much in the USA.

I like that big ski jump. Wonder when the last death was off one of those jumps?

I think they should make that Red Bull Crashed Ice event an Olympic sport.

Cross country skiing can be boring to watch, but once you have done it you have a whole new respect level for those athletes. Skate skiing in particular is well known as the most difficult aerobic activity out there. I do it and it kills you! Incredible workout.

Now, add in shooting to that and you have biathlon. You mountain hunters should appreciate it at least. Go like hell on skate skis, then have to stop, calm yourself, and shoot 5 targets clean from a standing position. Then, ski like hell again, and then shoot 5 more from a prone position. The targets are 4.5" for standing and 1.8" for prone, shot from 50 meters. Oh, and when you miss, you get to ski more.

I have incredible admiration and respect for the Nordic athletes. They are under the radar, no support, yet keep going. Womens team is loaded and should contend for medals. Diggins and Hart are from Minnesota as well.

I'll watch other stuff too, only thing I don't get into is figure skating. Way too much emphasis on that. And the freestyle crap doesn't do it for me, but whatever.

A better legend was Vinko Bogataj and his jump that was replayed for many years as part of the "Thrill of Victory and the Agony of DeFeet!"
