Flu shots can be very effective, (I even made a crude one in college for mice and it was effective), but yes, they aren't for everyone. If I didn't have a young child at home, I wouldn't get one either because I'm at very low risk.

I've never had the flu shot, and to my knowledge I've never had influenza, bronchitis, strep throat. IMO eating decent, getting enough sleep, and taking a good multi-vitamin help big time. As soon as i feel even a little tickle in my throat i double up on the multi-vitamin. Its amazing how many times it just goes away. If i didn't take anything it would definitely progress into a full cold.

There are people who seem to just have better immune systems though. I can count on one hand the amount of times I've missed work for being sick in the past decade.
